Well, it's been 2 months since our honeymoon but I finally got round to posting a little report. My memory is terrible so I can't remember dates or anything but here are a few highlights.
Enjoy!
First off - our wedding day (still in the UK at this point).
This was probably the best day of our lives - totally fantastic in every way and I think you will agree that my wife looks phenominal.
Now on to the honeymoon
Our first resort (for 6 nights) was AKL. Had a slight problem with the rooms caused by our Travel Agent but this was sorted quickly and we found ourselves in a fantastic savanna view room overlooking the Arusha Savanna on the Kudu Trail.
We were pretty tired the first day (a 9 hour flight the day after your wedding will do that) so after getting our 'Just Married' badges we went to DTD and grabbed a meal at the Rainforest Cafe (we like it!).
The first full day at WDW we went straight to MK and started to enjoy all the attention the Just Married badges bought. Can't really remember what we did that day although I know we went on the TTA whilst Space Mountain had the lights on - very cool for a Disney geek.
That evening we headed over to Epcot and enjoye a great meal at Coral Reef. We got seats right next to the aquarium and got a free desert on the house! (perhaps we should have taken the picture before eating the desert?!)
This is when things start getting a little vague so I can't remember all the details (and it wasn't due to "drinking around the world") so I'll just give a few highlights.
A visit to DAK started with meeting Wes Palm. He was very excited to see a tree with "red hair". It's hard not to laugh and smile when you see these little Disney extra's.
Upon entering DHS we were taken aside by a CM who spotted our badges and took us to a private meeting with Donald and Daisy (we look bad in this picture)
Later that day we were also given free ice cream! Thats a pretty good day by anyones standards.
We had a meal at Hoop Dee Doo. This was fantastic (even though we were made to dance in front of everyone to celebrate our honeymoon. A similar thing happened at Spirit of Aloha). The great thing about this meal was a) the free jam jars of beer and b) the amount of food I got. My wife is vegetarian so I had all the buckets to myself!
Later on our stay we switched our resort to the wilderness lodge for 5 nights. I slightly prefered this resort but it might have been influenced by the fact that we had one of the few rooms with a castle view!!!!
Here we are driving a boat. This was a lot of fun and something we will definitely be doing again.
Maybe next time I can persuade Amy to take off her life jacket
One of the best nights of our honeymoon was on the 23rd April. It was Amy's birthday, a pirates and princess party and a meal at CRT combined. It was made a little more magical when we were given a free birthday cake and free champagne glasses at CRT. Whilst I didn't dress up, my wife did make a dress out of a Disney princess duvet cover. It turned out pretty well and she got a lot of nice comments about it.
I also took a 'learn to surf' lesson at TL. It was probably the most tiring 2.5 hours of my life (mixed with a little pain as I was dragged along the bottom of the pool) but it was a brilliant experience. Sadly it seems I'm not a great surfer.
We also enjoyed some great meals at Le Cellier and Cali Grill but I have no photos of this.
Basically, we had the best time we could have imagined. Disney CM's always went out of their way to congratulate us and make the holiday really special. Little extras like a congratulations call from Mickey and Minnie or a signed congratulations card and ballons from them made you feel valued as a guest and I'm not sure we would have got the same thing from anywhere else.
If you've read all of this then congratulations! You're probably glad I can't remember all the details or this would have gone on a whole lot longer!
Enjoy!
