Our future trip

Girlfriend and I are coming to Disney in September. About 200 days from today and we are so excited. We were there in 2015 after we graduated from college and it was the first time we had been there in about 10+ years. The magic was still real, the atmosphere is just something that is always wonderful to us. We quell our excitement on a daily basis by watching Disney videos or reading up on the parks. As you can probably tell the excitement is high with me.

This will be our first time going together as real adults with well paying jobs and we're massively excited so let's talk Disney!

There are plenty of options. Many folks here are more knowledgeable than me about dining around the parks. But I always recommend getting breakfast at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Huge buffet with a mix of African dishes and the traditional American fare as well. If you take full advantage of the buffet you will not want to eat again for several hours. Totally worth it to me :)

That sounds so exciting! We took Disney vacations every year throughout college and of course, ended up Disneymooning after we got married, and the magic only seems to get better and better for us every year. Over the years, we've found that we love dining experiences, not just dining. Food is good, but atmosphere is best at Disney. We also really cherished moments spent outside the parks. Even though it's great to run through Space Mountain queue in a tizzy of excitement over and over, when we step out of the parks and lounge at nearby resorts or stroll Downtown Disney at night, those moments are just as fun. Have a wonderful time together!

We plan on doing Downtown Disney our first night there and then have another night down there as well. We're going for 7 days and doing 6 Disney and 1 Universal because we love HP. We didn't get to spend enough time in DD last time so we definitely will be spending a lot of time there this time.

It's totally transformed now (now called Disney Springs!) so it is definitely something to check out!

Also love HP and the Wizarding World is pretty great stuff. ;)

More than 6 months until the trip and we both are just so excited. We find ourselves talking about it each night and what we want to accomplish while there

My recommendation for dining is always Sanna at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village. Also, I recently dined at Chef Art Smith's homecoming at Disney Springs and it was delicious. Welcome to WDWmagic! Have a great trip!

You haven't mentioned where you are staying. I highly recommend that you stay at least one night at a Universal resort so that you can get in an hour early to HP land as the crowds at HP can be a nightmare and the early entry is worth it. Oh, and the Universal hotels are overall a better deal than you are likely to see at Disney resorts in terms of bang for your buck. You might also consider doing 2 days at Universal and only 5 at Disney... personally we went from Disney only folks to more of a 50/50 on trips. Universal has gotten much better and to be honest a lot of Disney stuff has been allowed to slip in the upkeep.

Dining for us at WDW is being silly kids. Give me character dining experiences. If I want a poor piece of steak with all types of stuff thrown on it I can't pronounce, I will go some place local. I am perfectly fine with the food at a Character buffet. If you are looking for something romantic, there are plenty of places. If you are looking to propose, lots of places and ways to do it.

One thing I learned going back is to stop being an adult and be a kid again.

We both enjoy Universal, we were there in late 2015 and while they have done a wonderful job with the new additions it's not a place that we feel we need more than one day at. For us it's all about the atmosphere at Disney and feeling as if we're kids again. While we are at Universal in 2015 we didn't wait long for any ride, the longest being Minions at an hour and I don't worry too much about lines there. We are staying at Caribbean Beach to experience a different Disney resort as we've both done different ones but friends of ours recently stayed there and loved it.

I will agree that some things at Disney are in need of an upgrade but for us Disney isn't about the rides, it's about the magic and wonder, walking into the parks and seeing your favorite characters and just the general happiness we feel there.

You and I share similar sentiments, we were just talking last night about doing a couple characters breakfasts and seeing some of the photo ops we can get with certain characters.

Universal crowds can be fickle as we've been there in the fall and had a day that was light followed by a very heavy day.... At the very least I would suggest that if you are only doing one day at Universal you aim for a weekday as they tend to be lighter crowds... Also you can continually look a purchasing a VIP pass at Universal as it gets closer to time to go, don't need to buy just see if it is available on days that are going to be really crowded they will not be available and you will know to avoid making that your one day to go to Universal.

We will be going midweek, our trip is 9/2-9/10 and we plan on doing I think either a Wednesday or Thursday at Universal
