We arrived at POFQ on Thursday August 5th in the afternoon after leaving cloudy and cold Rochester New York that morning. The temp change almost caused us to burst into flames, but, we lived. On the 5th, we checked in and decided to do some shopping at Downtown, while we were there, the heavens opened up and we decided to buy some ponchos, since it is Florida and August.
On Friday morning we headed to the MK. We went straight for Splash and rode it twice right away. The first two times we rode it, everything was working, including the hopping Brer Rabbit, sadly, it did not work the rest of the time we were there, but, Splash is still the best. We hit all our favorites, HM, Buzz, Philharmagic, POTC. We fastpassed our way around until mid afternoon because it was packed more than we have ever seen. In the PM, we went to Epcot and fast-passed Test Track and walked around the world. Our fast-passes were for seven and we got them at three. We rode Maelstrom, SSE and Figment (I still have that song stuck in my head). We stayed for Illuminations, we had never seen it before and it was okay, we both prefer Wishes and Fantasmic much more.
Saturday we stared the day at AK, hit the safari, bug and festival of the Lion King. Since Dinosaur was broken, we walked to see EE. It is HUGE. Pictures do not do it justice, I mean it is HUGE. Did I mention how huge? In the PM, we went to MGM. We went into Walt Disneys dream and got lucky and walked right into millionaire right after that. We had FP, ToT, so, that was ready about seven (we got the FPs three hours earlier - have I mentioned how crowded it was?) Kelley had never ridden ToT before, so, it was fun for me to watch her scream - boy that ride is fun and it is still scary, even though you kind of know what is coming. Since it was raining hard and did not show any signs of letting up, we went back to our resort.
Sunday was MK again, hit all our favorites and just enjoyed being there.
Monday started at the AK, got to ride Safari and did BUG and also did Dinosaur since it was working. We also did Kali (used our ponches - we are not as dumb as we look). Both of us seemed to think that Kali used to last longer, it was over before it started. Also took another walk by EE - did I mention how HUGE it was yet? In the afternoon, we went back to the hotel to nap since we had E-ride passes for that night. We got to the MK around six, hit some rides (it was packed, like everything else down there). We saw Spectromagic and Wishes and then the E-ride started and the place was virtually empty, we rode Splash and HM and Buzz and Philarmagic, had a great time indeed.
We slept in on Tuesday and went to DD in the morning to finish off our shopping, we stopped at our resort and shipped everything home since we did not want to carry it or check it in at the airport. We then went to MGM and did Muppets and Little Mermaid and Millionaire. Kelley's neck was bothering her, so, we did not to ToT. We did stay for Fantasmic. We sat down at about 7:30 for the 9:00 show and had great seats, the place was filled by 8:15. That is my favorite show down there, what a fantastic time.
Wednesday the 11th was my birthday, so, we did a character breakfast at the MK and spent the entire day there. We must have rode Splash 5 times, Buzz 5 times, Philarmagic 3, HM 2, POTC 2, people mover 3, CoP at least once and then we stayed for Spectromagic and the Fireworks. A great way to celebrate a birthday and the last day of vacation.
On Thursday we got up and headed to the airport, sad to be leaving, but, lucky to be missing the Hurricane. We could not have timed it any better.
