I have been looking for info on the Osborne lights but can't seem to find much about it. I know a little about the history. I want to know when the little opening ceremony is each day (and what it is like) and do they then just leave them on the rest of the evening?

All you ever need to know about the history^
Now the opening ceremony for the lights is at sunset make sure you are there early cause the streets get packed! And yes after the first light show they leave the lights on, and then about an hour or so later they do the light show again.

I suggest you make arrangements with your party where to meet after you are finished looking at the lights. There were so many people we didn't stay together. I would also head towards the back and go out past Toy Story, it gets very narrow around Star Wars area.

While it's nice that the light the buildings up.. But it is only lights on a building.. There is nothing cool like houses and creating different themed scenes or lighting trees up... It needs something newer than an LED car port.

I've heard they are leaving also, so we are making sure we see it this year. Does anyone know the dates of when they start the lights? We will be at HS nov 8th and I'm hoping they are up by then.

I heard rumors that this was the last year. I knew they would be up when we go in mid-December because we have been there in late Sept. and they are already starting to put them up.

I'm interested to know if the rumors that this is the last year for them are true or not as well. Planning a special trip down for them this year just in case. While I would be sad to see them leave, if it is because of a major expansion/addition of the rumor Star Wars land or even Cars Land I could live with it...but hopefully TDO would find a way to move their location.

We've had two trips where we've been able to catch Osborne Lights. We actually made it for the lighting ceremony last November and while it was crowded, I actually felt it was a lot less crowded than Osborne Lights feels after Fantasmic lets out. We headed into the lights after Fantasmic on our 2010 trip and it was like a slow moving herd of cattle trying to get in there. Last year, we just headed in there a little before 6, found a spot right across from the big tree and waited for things to start.

The lighting ceremony only happens once per night, but the lights dance on and off once lit. We like to grab some hot cocoa and walk around. Last year we even went in search of the purple cat.

Osborne Lights is a Thanksgiving night tradition for my family! I am devastated to hear that they may be ending this year. We are doing them on two night just so I can get my fix.

I have to agree wholeheartedly. The first time we saw them we were expecting something spectacular... It was really more like seeing a version of a Clark Griswold Xmas house... Not that big a deal and from my perspective overdone and overhyped.

LOVE the spectacle of dancing lights. It definitely is an experience that puts you in the Christmas spirit. I hope it never leaves the streets of America but if it does I'm sure disney will find something to do with those millions of lights.

Osborne lights are awesome. It can get crowded but when we tour it we will go in for a little while, then go ride Star Tours, then see the lights, then go see Muppets, then back to the lights. It gets less crowded as it gets closer to closing. Last time we were at WDW around Christmas we went to view the lights every night except our Christmas party night, I just love watching those lights dance!

I hear the Osborne Lights are leaving but they're will be a new display at Epcot to replace it. Lets just hope they don't bring back the Lights of Winter and pass them off as the new and improved Osborne Lights, they have been known to do things like that.
