I've been wondering this about my photos for a couple of weeks now with the same question: Will the Disney Lawyers come after me? (If any Dis suits read this, drop me a line - lets talk)
It has to do with copyrights and trademarks. Since the objects we are trying to capture images of are either TM'd or C'd, that's wherein the legal quandry lies. For instance, if i were to say take a pic of Mickey during the parade, thats a legaly protected C or TM (i forget which). I *think* if i were to sell that, i'd get into some steep doggy doo. Whereas if i were to be selling pictures of something like Cindy's castle during the fireworks, I might have better luck. Yet when i take a picture, the rights to that image are mine to do with as i please. The overriding question is that of 'Who's got the rights when the image is of a C'd/TM'd object?"
I *think* that original artwork, just as so it doesnt say Disney on it, probably can skate by. Maybe.... Maybe not....
All i know is that I'd like to sell some of my photos, but aside from the legal question, does anyone think that there's a market for this, would people actually buy it AND how much people would be willing to pay for pictures of Disney attractions.
[Steve, i know you dont like the word's "For Sale" and i certainly wouldnt sell anything off your site, i'm just trying to get some feedback from the masses.]
