Ok I have heard all over the net that the 5th demension on ToT was supossed to be a bit different, but I have no idea what is was originally meant to be. All I know is that they couldn't do it due to how the vehicle is guided. Can anyone please explain what it was originally supossed to be?

What you read may actually have been one of two news bits.

1) The ToT version for disneyland does not have the 5th dimension.

2) The ToT version in disneyworld may be remodeled at some point in the future.

As for talk about the guiding of the ride vehicles, I believe there has recently been some mention of how the cars move along a guide wire, like the great movie ride. This system can be screwed up by things like dropped parks maps, etc... that may get in the way of the sensors.

Maybe this wasn't the info you were looking for, however.

I don't know exactly, but what I can gather is that they wanted it to seem more like you were "floating" through that room vs traveling on a track or on the floor. I've heard things from the use of mirrors to the use of dense fog and lighting that would have created that effect, but whatever it was, it interfered with the sensors that help to guide the vehicles through the 5D room and into the drop shafts and thus had to be axed.

I'm sure someone might have more on this, but that is what I've come to understand.

It is actaully confirmed that the ToT's 5th demension and many other effects will be worked on and/or added for the next rehab. as well as many new drop sequences. This sounds really good to me.:animwink:

I really wish they had gotten that working though. It would have been worth it to change the way the vehicle moves than ditch the whole thing.

I do like that section of the ride, however it's too jerky to give you the full effect. If you're in the front row of the elevator and you look down you can see the floor of the building because the bottom part of the car in the front has a steel grate kind of floor. Basically doesnt that room use just primitive magicians tricks? I do know that the 2 door that open right before you go into the shaft appear to be flat against the wall when really they are both at 45 degrees and when they open they slide towards you...i believe this helps with the star and beam of light effect.

Well the 5th Dimension is definitly better than ther mirror room (though the mirror room is still really awsome)

I know one thing that was changed for the tower was that as soon as the ride started, a picture was taken of the car you were in and when you entered the 5th dimension, the eyeball would have a picture of the car you were in.

But I guess problems arose and it died just like the crash effect on Test Track.
