I've said it before and I'll say it again...this resort is so going to pirate business away from Hong Kong Disneyland.

I would agree about the piracy but if they can make it a totally different experiance then Hong Kong then it might work. It will be interesting to see the numbers after the opening.

Yeah. Here's hoping that the park is significantly different from Hong Kong Disneyland. If so, the two may be able to co-exsist without damaging one another's profit and attendance.

There is a huge demographic area's in China compared to the US. It makes sense to have 2 parks in China and with the growing of the middle class, Disney is making a smart plan on thier part.

While this is true, Disney is looked at as VERY American culture, and MAY not bring in the crowds the way the resorts do over here. They may have a billion people in that country, but just how many of them are rich enough to afford going to Disney, and how many actually WANT to go? Those are questions im sure are being asked. They would need to give Shanghai Disneyland that extra 'China' feel to it.

It would also be interesting to see how much of HKDL's current attendance derives from Hong Kong locals and other people from nearby. If a large part of the park's attendance comes from those kinds of regulars (kind of like Disneyland's), then in theory Shanghai wouldn't have as much of an impact on Hong Kong.
