Ordering Just Main course, not Combo meal?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if at quick service locations, are you able to order just the main course and not the combo with fries? For instance at Cosmic Rays, 1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger for lunch is $13.29 which includes fries. Would I be able to order just the burger for ~$9.00 without the fries if i wanted (Fries are listed as $4.49 as a side). I would much rather spend the $4-$5 on something like a dole whip after lunch than on fries.

If this is possible, is there anyway to do it on the mobile ordering app?

You can often (but not always) order the "entree only" for a discount, but the discount won't be the full sticker price of the item you're foregoing. I think when I did it (e.g., ordering a sandwich without the advertised fries) the price was reduced by about $2. For that reason, even if I wasn't hungry enough for a side, I tended to substitute my side (for something more healthful and portable, like pre-packaged apple slices, which I could tuck into my purse and have for a snack later) rather than drop it.

The last time I visited (spring 2018), you couldn't customize a meal by "dropping the side" using the app -- you had to do it at the CS register. Maybe somebody who's visited more recently can weigh in on whether that has changed.

Generally no.
Disney is not like say Mcdonald's where you can purchase a Cheeseburger, fries, and a drink all separately or together as a combo.
If its a cheeseburger and fries then that's what it is.
There are often alternative sides if you just don't want fries but rather have say green beans.
You'd have to look for places that sell individual items in order to not get a side. This would likely be at carts like if you wanted a turkey leg. You could get just a turkey leg or you could get it with chips and a drink...

DW has dietary issues and almost all of her meals she cannot eat the sides Disney offers. It varies around property where the CM's will give us a break in the cost and other times not. When they dont it means I get an extra side.
