Get 6 full days and 1 short day (till maybe 11am) at Disney World. My DH myself and 5yo son. I had planned to do MK first, but appears some suggest saving MK (because it is soooo exciting) till after other parks. We have park hopper and water parks. What does everyone here think / suggest?

We usually do MK first but go back a couple of times after doing some of the other parks. There's always some attractions there we didn't get to the first time. We try to fit the water parks in whenever the weather is best for it.

We're getting ready to take our first family trip (leaving in 9 days!!!) and this was something that I heavily debated, as well. I ended up deciding to do this:
Animal Kingdom on the day we arrive (since it won't be a full day)
Day 2 at MK (after breakfast at 'Ohana)
Day 3 at Epcot
Day 4 at DHS
Day 5 (by b-day!!) back to MK
Days 6 and 7 - shopping at DTD and back to our favorite parks

I had read in some of the Guide books to "save" MK, but I also knew we were going to want to spend multiple days there, and my 5-yo is SO excited that it's really not fair to make him wait several days.

Hope you have a fabulous trip! :)

With Park Hoppers, you could perhaps do Animal Kingdom first to get a little taste for Disney Magic, then go to Magic Kingdom in the late afternoon/evening and just plan to do a couple of "lands" there, catch a night parade and Wishes. Then go back to MK later in the week for the day and take your time exploring it all. I'd do the same with DHS and Epcot, then use whatever remaining days you might have to go back to the things you liked most. US the Water Park option mid-stay as a break.

Thanks

:wave:Thanks for answers. If you ask me one minute I'll say I'm going MK first. The next minute I'll say MK last. What a horrible thing to have such a hard decision:ROFLOL:

For me the order never really seems to matter. I plan it out figuring in EMHs and what ADRs I want to make/can get. I then play around and maximize the time we can get in the parks with as little transportation as possible. If I had to choose between doing MK first or last I'd rather do it last. I love ending my vacation with Wishes. Nothing better.

We almost always start with Magic Kingdom. For us, no other park says "you're finally at WDW!!!" The few times we didn't do this- the trip just didn't feel right. Last trip we started and ended w/MK- which I'd highly recommend. Beyhond that- we try to work around EMH and touring plans crowd projections.
