Orbitz For Room---Can I still get Magicbands?

I booked our resort through orbitz. Will that make it impossible to get magicbands? Does anyone have experience using orbitz for your resort and buying park tickets elsewhere?

Another question: I'll be arriving several days before the rest of my family. Is it possible for me to buy a 9 day ticket and them have a 6 day without causing lots of confusion? My 3 days without them, I'll be staying outside Disney.

Your room & tickets don't neccessarily have to be for the same # of days/nights. If you have a room+tickets package for the time when you will all be there together, everyone in the same room does have to have the same # of ticket days - and in that case, you wouldn't have access to your ticket until you check in on-property....it would be a shame (and expensive) to have to purchase 2 tickets (one for the days you arrive ahead of the others, & one for the time you share). If you do have a package, hopefully someone will suggest something I'm not thinking of so that you wouldn't have to do that. If you were staying on after the others left, you could just purchase add'l days after you checked-in.

On the other hand, if you have a room-only reservation on property, it's fine for guests in the same room to have different #'s of ticket days. That way you could purchase yours ahead of time so you would have it for your days before the others arrive.

Have a Wonderful time!!

If you call or email Orbitz... they can provide you with a 12-digit reservation number that can be used to link your resort to My Disney Experience.

This will allow you to customize (color choice and personalize) your magic bands... which will also ship/arrive prior to your resort check-in.

If you don't link your resort reservation to MDE... you'll receive the standard gray bands upon check-in.

You can also link your tickets on MDE with your Orbitz reservation. As long as your Orbitz reservation is NOT a package... there should be no confusion with different length of stay tickets.

Once you link your resort reservation to MDE... link your tickets as well. I've read '3rd party' tickets can be a tad more tricky to link, similar to 3rd Party resort reservations... but it can be done.

Link the tickets according to Guest Profile/Magic Band. Essentially... your Magic Band will have the 9 day ticket.

Once your Magic Bands arrive... they're essentially 'tickets'... and because your not on a Package reservation... there's no need to 'check-in' to activate them. You can start using your Magic Band and 9 day ticket upon arrival... same with the rest of your family... 3 days later.

Once you check-in to your Disney resort... your bands will then be given access as a room key with charging privileges if you so choose.

Hopefully that wasn't too confusing... hah!

The above post has some great info. I'll just add one more bit of info that the Disney reservation number should be included in the Orbitz confirmation email, so there's no need to call. It's buried *way* down near the bottom in the section titled "Your Disney MyMagic+ Experience".

Sometimes it's a twelve-digit number, other times it's 6-digit string of numbers and letters. That's what it was for my upcoming reservation. We needed one additional night before our DVC reservation so I booked a one-night room at Riverside that got me both the current discount Disney was offering *plus* a 15% discount code for Orbitz *and* $60 bonus Orbucks for booking a Disney hotel.

The only issue we had was that somehow the last names for all three people on the reservation were my last name despite all three of us having different last names. No big deal since the reservation was then linked to our MDE profiles and it all shows up properly in everyone's listing of reservations. (When linking I just had to confirm that the names were indeed different than on the reservation)

When customizing the Bands make sure to update the shipping address as it'll default to be some Orbitz corporate address (Chicago, I think it was).

Thank you! This worked perfectly!!! I now need to call orbitz and add the kids!!

Should I call Disney about the tickets….how to get my 9 day and their 6 or 7 day tickets?

You can purchase the tickets any way you like. If you buy them on the WDW website you can connect them to your MDE profiles directly as part of the checkout process.

If you're looking to save a little money, you can buy them from an authorized reseller like Undercover Tourist or Maple Leaf Tickets. One you have the tickets in-hand you can use the serial numbers on the back to link them to the proper profiles. (Just make sure you're careful to link each ticket to the proper person)

I've always been able to plug my Orbitz code (usually a combination of letters and numbers) directly into MDE to link my reservation.
