TBH I'm kind of surprised there wasn't one before. Remote police offices are fairly typical in large shopping centers, I don't see why this would be any different.

OCSO already has an office very nearby Disney Springs.

Orange County Sheriff's Office currently has a small substation in/near Orange garage. Probably just basic equipment like computers and such. Haven't had a reason to be in there. The actual OCSO main station on Disney property is north of Disney Springs on Buena Vista Drive.

Seems really odd to give up prime retail space for this.

Seems they should have thought of this and built some office in the back somewhere.

It's not exactly a prime location which is probably why it never got a tenant.

If you don't put a police station in a commercial district, crime goes up and tax revenues go down.
