12 and under? That's perfectly fine in my opinion, not sure why anyone over that age would want it. Adults and teenagers are perfectly capable of 'princessifying' themselves at a fraction of the price if they wanted to.

My issue is my daughter is on the autism spectrum therefore she is behind. She is a teenager and would LOVE to go back, she doesn't want to dress up she just wants to get her hair done. I know plenty of mothers and teens who would love to feel the magic. Disney is all about being a kid again right?

My middle daughter wanted to do it for her 18th birthday and she was not the oldest one there by a long shot as there were 3 women there that easily eclipsed 60.

I heard the problem was that those older than 12 do not fit in the costumes so there is no chance to up-sell them with costumes and a photo package.

Ugh we go go DL every year also and we used to do Disney 365 which had no age limit but almost the same hairstyles. They now turned that into the frozen hair salon. They need a hair only package.

We have called :( they do not make exceptions. We may try pirates league next time! It won't be the same though.
I wonder when the policy changed? The Barber Shop on Main Street used to do fun hair styles. They don't put in the fake hair like BBB. My daughter got a loose bun and some glitter in her hair 4 years ago when she was too young for BBB. I don't know if they still do it or not.

I heard it was due not being able to up-sell older patrons with costumes, photo packages, etc.

A guest that is too large to fit in a costume will peak out at about $60. Start adding costumes and photo packages and you can easily be over $300.

We got pixie dust in out hair at Harmony Barber Shop but they don't even do buns anymore. It's a lot of babies getting their first haircut.

I think the age limit kind of stinks.:( I would love to do it at least once and see the age limit disappear. Since I do not like to go to the spa, something like this would be fun to try. I did the pirate's league which was fun, and I even got the photo package. I'm not convinced that reason for the age limit is the costuming. I did not get a costume at the pirate's league, nor have I seen any adult do so. I thought the fun part was the makeup, the atmosphere, and the experience. If the pirate's league can admit all ages without a costume, I have trouble believing that the boutique can't be the same. Maybe there's more to it.

As stated above there's no age limit for Pirates League, but I think it has to do more so with demand & capacity more than anything else. Limiting the Botique to 12 and under prevents anyone over that age from booking time slots (of which there are a limited quantitiy) and taking up the seat of someone who may do the whole costume package. There are far fewer guests looking for Pirate makeovers so Disney can accommodate adults and teens wishing to do so.

I do not like the fact that you can age out of something in Disney. I feel like that defeats the magic of Disney. I know 50 year olds who would love to get s princess bun! I usually get a princess shirt in the parks!
