Operations Manager

First off, excuse my posting so late at night. With 2 jobs and school, it's hard to keep up on my visits to one of the best websites ever...... I just finished a lab report about 'biodiversity' on the Minneapolis campus. I know, you're bored just reading about it!

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had any insight into opportunities in Operations Management? Next semester I will end my undergrad career as well as my time as a Campus Rep. As a film/TV student and indie filmmaker I (obviously) am going to apply for the Imagineering internship in writing. However, I am realistic and know that the chances of getting accepted are very small.

Thus, I am inquiring about another job at WDW that interests me very much: operations manager. I was wondering if anybody is, or knows, a Manager in Operations that would be willing to answer a few questions. I have a few people that I worked under during my CP that I will try to get a hold of, but anything helps.

I will be applying for the Fall Advantage internship (June-Jan) in Operations Management and would like some pointers on the interviewing process, as well as tips and expectations about the position. Does anyone know someone who did this internship? If so, please PM me or post back.

Thanks for your time, and "Have a Magical day!"

It seems you are going about this the right way. You have the CP experience, and can contact an Ops Manager with whom you've worked.

I worked around those folks for about seven years. My impression is they have a lot of responsibility... many people reporting to them, and many guests requesting their help as well.

Anyone who works around a lot of people (guests and cast) must be comfortable making quick decisions, must have something of a stage presence (that is, don't let problems in one area drag you down in another) and leadership ability... something which a person either has, or doesn't have. You can't fake it and you can't learn it.
