I put a request for a room in with the touringplans site, so in a few weeks, that request will go out. My question is… should I also use online check in? Will that potentionally mess up my request??

Sorry haven’t been to Disney in 24 years! n00b here!

You can do online check-in.

But be very careful about selecting any options for the room requests. If they conflict with the TP fax, one will cancel out the other. I would just leave all that part blank.

Some people rave about the online check in. We have had hit or miss results. One time we had requests put into our reservation pkg by our TA and I also did a request online when the time came. When we got to the resort it did alter our prior requests. I wasnt very happy about it because it was supposed to help us, not hinder us. Other online check ins we did on other trips went without a hitch.

If there is something that is very important to me at a resort, such as a building location, floor level, or near transportation, I call the reservation number so that they can log it on my reservation. I've been very lucky because so far it's worked every time. I don't always use the choices on online check in because it's been very glitchy. Not all options are there and sometimes it won't allow to change your requests. This is the first year I faxed in my requests (mainly bc we're traveling with another couple) but I won't know until Saturday if it worked :)

For previous trips, I did online check in I just didn't complete the room location requests section. I tried this trip but the system got stuck on the wrong choices. It has me stuck in Cabanas lower level when we want Ranchos near transportation. So with two parties I had to send a fax to clarify since we would like to at least be in the same section.

By policy, the resorts are not allowed to take room requests by fax. Some CMs adhere to this rule, other do not.

The only way to guarantee that a CM will see your requests is to call the reservation center and have any requests noted on your reservations. If you already have made request with TP to fax in request, make the requests to the reservation center identical.

Online check in should have no affect on your requests unless you add other requests that conflict with what is already in the system. That being said, online check in is not a necessity. Best case, it might save you a few minutes checking in and get you into a room before 3:00 pm, but getting a room early might be at the expense of honoring other requests.

I always use the TP room request fax and also do online check-in and haven't had a problem. I make sure there is nothing conflicting on either the online check-in or the fax for TP.
