One day or two?

Hey all, my girlfriend and I are heading to the world in the fall and neither of us have been to Universal Studios or IOA, but want to check it out this trip. To see both Universal and IOA and hit the good rides and shows during the end of October (slow season), can we jam it into one day or do we really need two?

Thanks in advance!!

It honestly really depends. I went on a weekend in September, and was done with everything at IoA by 1pm. That was with doing everything at least twice (The Hulk, and Dueling Dragons were ridden a lot more than twice), including Forbidden Journey.

So, it's hard to tell. One day, I'm sure you COULD, if necessary. But, of course two would probably be best, too ensure you will do everything.

Depends on your list of "good rides and shows".

If neither of you have ever been before you'll really be doing yourselves a disservice if you try to do both parks in a single day.

One day per park would be pushing it for first timers.

With a great seal of running back and forth between parks, our family did both parks in one day in October 2009, but DD and I were not interested in the big coasters, and DS and hubby were not interested in the rides geared towards young'uns. We all saw just about everything we wanted to, but that was pre-Potter. I wouldn't recommend trying to do it now if you want to see any of the details of the WWOHP.

Our family visited for the first time this past spring break. We spent two days in the parks. We purchased the express passes for the first day. We pushed pretty hard to see the high demand attractions at both parks on the first day using the express passes (it is a relatively easy walk between the Studios and IOA). The second day we again split time between the parks, taking a little bit more time to watch shows, visit the less crowded attractions, and take in the scenery. Truthfully, I think the theming on the Studios-side (particularly the Amity island-San Francisco-New York area and the Hollywood Blvd) is pretty good.

In my opinion, you may miss out on things if you try to fit it all in one day.

I visited Universal Orlando a while ago in July (high season), before the WWoH opened, and we did both parks in one day.
It was a bit tiring but I would recommend this if going in during slow season.

If you get an express pass for some of the lines on bigger-ticket rides, then it's somewhat feasible for one day. The vast majority of on-property traffic is in WWoHP. I went to Universal Studios two weeks ago and we rode everything at least twice, the Mummy 3 times. At IoA, more than half of guests will be in WWoHP and the rest will be in line for Hulk and Ripsaw Falls.

thanks everyone for your input, for the way my gf and I are and from your feedback, I think we'll probably do it in two days and soak up some of the atmosphere. Thanks again!

If you plan on getting on everything I did 1 full in IoA and 1 full in Universal

and then another day of half IoA and half Universal :) (Got on everything that way!!)

I would plan for 2; we went in February and we rushed through the day and did not get to see everything we wanted to and were exhausted at the end. If you don't use the full two days you can move on to other things you have planned.
