On Line Check In

We have been visiting the mouse for decades, but this will be the first time we are going with a group including one with disabilities. We requested a handicap accessible room and having the three rooms together on a ground floor. Has anyone experienced the difference between doing ONCI or waiting to get there and personally checking in to try and have our requests fulfilled?

I would both contact Disney Travel now and the hotel directly and give them your request prior to your arrival date. That way it's in the system so they can assign the rooms without you having to wait at the Front Desk. And if you need two of the rooms to be connecting, tell them that.

For me it's been about convenience.....Go to any park get a text....get to the resort at whatever time and press my band against the sensor and viola.

Based on your post it may be a good idea to call the resort directly the morning of - to confirm (remind them of..) the request.

Definitely call now to put in your requests.
We were told that Guests were put into the system 10 days before arrival. You could always call at that time, too, to confirm that your requests are there.
I believe someone posted here that your call to the specific hotel was now redirected to general reservations. They were correct. We haven't been able to speak with the hotel directly for two years. Our requests have always been noted, however, and we've never had any problems.

Yes, call several days before arrival date. That way, when it comes to assigning rooms the day of your arrival, your request is already in the system. Didn't realize you couldn't speak to the hotel directly about reservations anymore.

It's really difficult to get to anywhere directly on Disney property. Even if you dial 0 or the Front Desk button on your in-room phone, you're most likely getting a central call center on property. Their screen tells them where the call is coming from or was directed to (like the "direct" numbers listed for the hotels), and they answer the call with the appropriate greeting.

I'd suggest doing what the others have said and ensure that your requests are noted on each of your reservations.

If you want to go one farther, give the WDW Main Switchboard (407-824-2222) a call 3 or 4 days before check-in. Explain that you've already made note on your reservations, but would like to talk to a room assigner at the hotel because of your handicap requirements. It's then a coin toss whether they'll get you to someone actually at the hotel, or just tell you the reservation note is enough. Depends on the CM.

I had no such needs, but I can only say that the online check in was exceptional, I got my building/room texted to me, and since I had my magic bands in hand, we went straight to our room and didn't even go near the check in line :D

I believe you need to specifically choose an accessible room when reserving, so I suspect the process should be the same.

Isn't there still a Special Services department to call when you have a room type that is a need and not a request?

I want to ask you, what resort are you staying at? Most resorts have elevators so everything you want to put in to your request may be treated as a request only.

Thank you for the responses. We are staying at POR. We did make requests when we made our reservations with Disney Vacation Planning, sounds like good advise to call 3-4 days ahead to remind booking of our requests.
