My feelings exactly, Brad.Fievel said:Right now, almost nobody in the US actually cares about the US basketball team. They're not our best players, and they've only been assembled for about 3 weeks. (?)
It's not like the original "dream team" that was whoopin on teams by 45-50 points every game. Other teams work together all year and face a unique challenge to the latest US Basketball team.
Will they win the gold? I really don't care...I guess I'm indifferent about the whole thing.
Not that I take anything away from the Puerto Rico team....but this is probably a bigger deal there than it is here.
Mikejakester said:Not to sound like Im picking on anyone or anything, But back then, when the USA was winning every single game, all the media and everyone was like, "We are the best, Basketball is our sport, they will never beat us" and the dream team was the best thing in the USA.
Now they lose for the first time in an olympic game and I hear remarks like "Im indiffernt, I don't care, it dosen't matter" What happened to all the enthusiasm, "we can beat anyone" way of thinking. All of the sudden the team loses, and it's not important.
Only sore loser would say those kind of remarks. I know there are a lot of players that did not go to the games (mainly becuase all they care about is the money and puts in question how much patriotism and pride there is in representing USA only a few years after 9-11) But still that team has it's share of superstars like Jefferson, Duncan, Iverson, Lebron, Antony, Odom. Etc.
But all of the sudden USA basketball is not important.
Give me a break. Why can't you guys just accept the fact that All the players are consumed with superstar egos, the ones that didin't want to play in athens have more pride in reciving the $green$ ones than representing their country and last but not least the USA played a horrible game and Puerto Rico capitalized on that and dominated the whole game.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) -- LeBron James eyed Shawn Marion's pass coming toward him and made a split-second decision to redirect the ball. One nifty touch pass later, Dwyane Wade converted it into a layup.
The basket broke the last tie and began a game-changing 10-point run at the start of the fourth quarter, leading United States to a 89-79 victory over Australia on Thursday.
The win might have been a big step toward reversing the fortunes of a U.S. team that struggled to beat Greece and was embarrassed by Puerto Rico in a 19-point loss.
"Everything's not clicking yet, but we're heading that way," Tim Duncan said. "It was a great learning experience today being able to fight back and staying with each other."
