Old Stuff

I was just watching some old holiday videos from old trips ('99 & '01) and it made me realise how boring the preshows are for the new Shamu and Whale and Dolphin shows are, IMO.
I used to love the guy and the whale and dolphin stadium (i dont think its right to call it a theatre as they do now) who sung and played his guitar, it was such a relaxed atmosphere. And now they have nothing :(.
And the quiz at the Shamu Expirence was much better than the one now, it was interactive and provided some good laughs for the audience (especially the kids)
Anyway thats enough moaning for one day, i was just wondering if anybody else misses anything at Seaworld?

I agree with Helena123, I was disappointed in the Shamu pre-show, I was disappointed in the Shamu show come to think of it, I thought it was a bit sappy, lets face it everyone is just sitting in the first 16 rows waiting to get wet. Also they need to re-do the Clyde and Seamore show - it was the same pirate ship in 1999:lol:

If you haven't been to the park since the first year they did the Believe show. it has changed. The weird, boring movie( was it penguins?) they showed is gone.

Believe actually grows on you. They did tone it down some on glorifying the trainers and the whales do a lot more than they did in the early believe shows. It varies from show to show depending on who is working. Some do more of the dives etc. with the whales than others. Sometimes no one gets in the water with the whales if they are not cooperating etc.

If you haven't seen it in years and years give it another chance. I hated Believe the first time I saw it, but now I try to get to the show at least twice everyday we are in the park.

^^^ When Believe came out, it turned into a guest relations nightmare. So many people didn't get that they turned the show into a real "show" and guest satisfaction scores for Shamu plummeted. Busch Entertainment has tried to fix a few things here and there to make it more fan friendly, but people honestly still don't get it if they're seeing it for the first time.

It's a neat show, I can see where people can either like it or hate it. It's still cool to see all the Orca whales perform like they do!

It is still impressive though and the new set/stage is a big improvement :)

I miss the free beer, but it was just a tease. The guitar guy did nothing for me. What I have always loved was the pre show for the sea lion show. Wife is always scard to get to Shamu late due to the fact we once sat up high and a pigeon landed a bomb in her hair from the rafters above. She rather sit low then near the rafters. One thing I must say is that I really don't like the whole criss cross over the dolphins. The blue and white arches with globes remind me of walking into the entrance of my prom.:ROFLOL:
