Does anybody else remember these TV commercials from the late 70's:
-Space Mountain (1977): Started with the silhouettes of the three DL landmarks of the time, the Castle, the Matterhorn and Space Mountain. Then you were inside Space Mt and you saw people boarding rockets and some hi-tech (for the time) looking computers and stuff. Throughout the whole thing, you heard the sounds of Mission Control that you hear when you're standing in line. Then it showed a rocket going by in space with guests in it. The commercial ended with the outside of Space Mountain and the voiceover said, "Space Mountain...It could only happen at Disneyland."
-New Matterhorn (1978): This one started with a fog-shrouded Matterhorn and then it showed different views of the inside. As a kid, I had the narration memorized. But it was something along the lines of, "What's gotten into the Matterhorn at Disneyland? Glistening crystal ice caverns, howling winter storms....and something else". At this point you saw the two glowing red eyes of the Abominable Snowman and your heard him growling. Then it ended with a view of the Matterhorn through the fog again and the words, "The New Matterhorn...It could only happen at Disneyland."
-Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (1979): I don't remember the narration, but it was something to the effect of, "No one knows why the abandoned mine trains of Big Thunder are running again..." or something like that. And it showed different views of the attraction. It ended with a view of Big Thunder and, you guessed it...."Big Thunder Mountain Railroad...It could only happen at Disneyland."
Does anyone know if it's possible to somehow get copies of these commercials? I've only seen them once since my childhood. I was at the Disney Archives back in the early 90's and they had them on videotape. I bought the Disney Treasures: Tomorrowland dvd yesterday, hoping that maybe the Space Mountain commercial might be on it as an easter egg or something.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
