This is a great loss for the state of NH. There is talk of rebuilding it, but I think it just wouldn't be the same. It really is very sad.:cry:

Awwww... Im from NH... that was like a HUGE thing for us up there... mostly because we didnt have anything else... lol

It was a natural rock formation, that had the profile of a face... it was nicknamed the old man in the mountain. It became our state symbol, and is used for Route signs, as well as on the back of the NH quarter.

That`s interesting,I have never seen that before. What happened did years of erosion make it fall? if so why didn`t anyone do anything to save it?

Since the early 1900's, there have been efforts to delay its demise. However, it happened by surprise... its not as if anyone planned it... he just... broke apart...
