Old Key West vs Beach Club

To any that have stayed at both OKW and Beach Club, how do the two compare?

My family will be staying at OKW in June. We love the Beach Club but the DVC was entirely booked there, so we stayed at OKW instead.

How's the mood/atmosphere? How is the pool? How is the dining? Is it near any parks? If you could give me your opinions on OKW that would be great! Thank you!

We like the Beach/Yacht Club area for several reasons. You’re within walking distance to Epcot/HS, The Skyliner, and the Boardwalk area. The pool is one of the nicest on property. OKW is nice, although it’s a HUGE resort. 4 bus stops, however it does have boat service to DS. I would say it is a much more quiet resort.

OKW is a very different resort. The good? Nice pools(and lots of quiet pools) and good access to The Springs. Rooms are bigger too. But you don't have the same access to parks, a rental car would make it a fine place to stay at.

As others have pointed out BC is closer to the parks, but we prefer OKW for the more laid back vibe.

My two cents is OKW. Since DW doesn't fly, we travel by car. OKW has parking right outside your door. We don't take the buses, but as someone else stated, the boat ride to DS is relaxing. The dining is OK, Olivia's was once the best kept secret on property, but since Covid, the menu took a downturn. The rooms are a value for the size, as we book a 1BR for the two of us.

I despise the Beach Club. The whole resort smells like buffet fish, is decorated like your dead great-grandmother's beach house, and the rooms are beat to hell.

Old Key West is a great resort to rent a car. Bus service is slow because the resort is so sprawling, but the parking lots are SUPER convenient to the units.

When I read your list of places you have stayed, it’s kinda funny I don’t see a Beach Club/Yacht Club stay. Just Sayin.

That list is not comprehensive. For example, '16 SSR was actually a POR/SSR/POFQ split stay. I was also an Orlando local from 2011-14. I've stayed everywhere except All Star Music.

Beach club is our home resort and our favorite resort but it's totally different than OKW imo.
I love okw for a quieter vibe and I love it at night and the different color units. That being said, we always have a rental car when staying at key west.

It's not near any parks, I guess the nearest park is MK but you can take a really nice boat ride to Disney springs .

The Beach Club is absolutely awful. Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded. I would advise all to stay elsewhere.

Yes. You can't walk to any parks, obviously the buses are there, but the resort is not really near any as opposed the monorail resorts or in the example the OP is using, Beach Club where you have two parks in walking distance.

Beach Club itself doesn't have great dining, but the ability to walk to YC and others makes it better there, but the QS consistently lately has been one of the worst I've gone to. Views at BC can be lousy. Pool is actually not great - over crowded with little available shade. The sand people think is awesome rips up my spouse's skin making walking painful. It is a busier feel at BC. Walking to Epcot and DHS is a bonus

OKW lacks some food, but we like what they have. Pool is smaller but we like them more. Transportation to everywhere but DS is not as good but if you have a car, parking is by your room. Room size and views as a whole are superior. Larger resort. Very laid back and relaxed feel.

I like OKW more tbh but BC isnt bad.
