Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've been here. Anyway, we're heading down to the world on Monday. Has anyone stayed at Old Key West? What are some fun things to do, places for food, etc.? Any comments are appreciated. I also plan on doing a full trip report for you all.

I have never stayed there myself, but I am going May 2nd. Have you seen all the great sites with pictures of OKW? I would love to hear your trip report before I go!!

I've stayed at Old Key West many times. (We're members there, so I'm a bit biased.) I'd say that the allure is the fact that you can get away from the hustle and bustle for a while, but still be close and have some Disney magic. They've got basketball/tennis/volleyball/gym near Hospitality House. There's three quiet pools in addition to the main pool. We love the food at Olivia's, though the service is at about the same speed as the real Key West -- very slow. But that's OK. This resort is all about taking it easy. The rooms are probably the biggest you're going to see on property. The 1BR units are HUGE! The in-room jacuzzis are wonderful. Take your time in the morning and have breakfast out on the patio. We absolutely love it there!! (If you're in a studio, forget what I said about the huge rooms and the jacuzzi. Everything else still stands.) Any specific questions, feel free to ask!

On our last trip, We rented a boat at downtown disney and took the waterways over to old key west, cant wait to stay there some day. Also boated to Port Orleans.

The grounds at old key west are great, and the restaurant(Olivias) and the main area are themed great.

We loved Old Key West. We stayed there for our honeymoon and the rooms are wonderful. We loved the boat rides you could take to Downtown Disney. The only down-side is that they don't have a food court type place there or somewhere quick to eat when you want. We weren't a big fan of Olivias (the one restaurant there), but you also have the option of cooking food in your own room there since you have a kitchen. It's a wonderful place though.

We are taking an "extra" (not in the orignal plans) trip to WDW this Aug. We have never been in summer and found we can get more days out of our points by staying at OKW, instead of 6 nights and 7 days at BCV we have 9 nights and 10 days at a studio at OKW.

The theming looks wonderful and very relaxing. I wonder how the pool is for little ones. My 2 year old DD loved SAB and so did we.

I am really looking forward to OKW, get to try something new at WDW.

Any more info out there?

Mrs. PhD.

Well. The rooms are a bit on the small side except for the bathrooms, these are larger then most. It is a very large resort and you can be very far from main pool. Olivia's is a great spot to eat. The main pool is just ehhh. The quiet pools were over taken by those annoying black birds and they didn't welcome humans. I wasn't a huge fan.

I love OKW. We are DVc members and that is our home resort. Very rarely do we go to another resort to stay at when we go to WDW. They have nice pools, Olivias has good good food (usually) and as in almost every place in WDW, the CMs are very helpful.

I love OKW. If you're staying in a studio, then the room is about the same size as all of the other DVC resorts, or about the size of a standard hotel room. (We usually go for the 1BR, which is just HUGE!)

The quiet pools are just like the quiet pools at other resorts. Just a plain pool. The main pool has a kiddie pool next to a sandy play area. (Perfect for trying out the sand toys that come with the Good's to Go "sand pail meal" for kids.) The main pool itself has no major special features. There is a bridge across the main pool separating it into two sections, but there is no slide or anything. If Little PhD is looking for adventure, this probably won't do it. There's also a small bridge past the dolphin fountain, but that's not a big thrill, either.

If you want to be near the main pool, ask for a room near Hospitality House. Not only are buildings 11-14 right across the road, but the newest buildings, 62-64 are also close. Building 62 (where Commodore House used to be) has a great view of the fountain on the little lake by the bridge. I kind of like the golf course views, too.

If you've got any specific questions, I'd be glad to answer them. :)

I love OKW. The rooms are great, they are huge, and very nicely decorated. The patio part is very nice. But whats really cool is the Surrey Bikes, they are very fun to rent.
