Does anyone know why Horizons was taken down (other than to build Mission Space)?

If an answer to this question has already been posted -- could you all please direct me to that? Thanks!

Horison Closure

I think that the reason for Horison closing was that the ground underneath it was subsiding and causing structural damage to the attraction.

I have read this somewhere on this forum, but i'm sure that the more experienced members out there can give you more details.

I know that the soil was one of the reasons that the Horizons building had to be demolished, also it couldn't accomodate Mission: Space, but I'm not sure if that's the reason the ride was closed. It may be because the ride was closed for a very long time before they began the demolishion.

Other than that, I'm sure that Disney did some sort of study or analysis and realized that Horizons was not getting the attendence that they wanted (even though I LOVED that ride). Disney's motto is if its more than a few years old, it must be bad."

Yes, we've discussed this lots of times, but I sure loved that attraction! I really miss it.

If you click on "search," and enter "Horizons," I'm sure you'll come up with lots of info.
