Here are some questions for any DVC member that is does not own at OKW, but has experience booking over the Thanksgiving Holiday at OKW within the 7-month window…I apologize for the rather long following explanation.
First, how hard is it to get a Three Bedroom Grand Villa at OKW in the 7-month window at Thanksgiving?
My DW and I have been talking to our two kids lately about a family trip to WDW over Thanksgiving 2009. Our DS is single and is in college, and by Thanksgiving 2009, our DD will be married and will have just graduated. We told our DS that he is welcome to bring one of his college buddies along as long as who ever it is pays for his own park tickets and transportation. This will give him a friend to hang out with since at his age Mom and Dad are not as cool as they once were… Also, I know we would all fit into a Two Bedroom Villa, but the thought of three separate bedrooms will be our first choice. This is basically due to the fact that we will have one newlywed couple, one oldlywed couple and two young college boys in the house for few days...
We own at SSR but are thinking about staying at OKW because of the lower number of points required for a Three Bedroom Grand Villa.
Also, I’ve used the points calculator on-line today, and I ran 17 different possible options at various DVC resorts and with the combination of those options, it can be mind staggering as far as how many point we might possibly need. Our DD and future Son-in-law will be using some of our points earlier in 2009 for their honeymoon. This might make if necessary to borrow a few points from the following use year to book during the 11 month window if we book at our home resort, SSR.
Second, if I then wait until the 7-month window and try for OKW and we're lucky enough to get what we want, will I loose points that I originally had to borrow?
I just did this with the kids honeymoon; I cancelled the kid’s reservation at SSR and got them into WLV where my future Son-in-law proposed to my DD. They kept their fingers crossed for those four months and they got what they wanted. I do know that there is always the possibility of having our "dreams come true" for the whole family.
Third, how can I keep from loosing those points?
Thanks!!!
