Okay, I see it all the time, but what IS the Candleight Processional?

It is a wonderful show with orchestra and choir that tells the story of the Nativity (Christmas), the celeb reads the story. It is beautifully done and I like watching the first show. I love how it starts in daylight and then slowly fades to dark outside, adds to the "candlelight" atmosphere.

I really have no idea. I know celebrities host it, and it's during the holidays, but what is it?

Make fun if you wish, but I've wanted to ask for ages.
Nobody should make fun of anyone for asking a question, that's what the boards are for!!

The CP is done at Christmastime and has a very Christmassy thing going on. :) A narrator reads a story of Jesus's life. A choir sings mostly religious songs (of different tempos.). Musical instruments are played. Before it starts, the choir files in holding candles...although I think they've switched to electric candles. Still, that processional is pretty and sets a nice tone. It's all very well done and leaves you feeling good.

That said, it leaves you feeling good like a nice day in church would. Most children don't want to sit through a nice day in church and will likely not wish to sit through the CP. It isn't a bunch of singing and dancing with characters and stuff. That is done at MVMCP. It's more subdued, like at church. Everyone knows their own children best and would be able to make the "Should I bring the kids?" decision.

I really enjoy the CP, for what it's worth. :)

Very good info, including the list of dates and narrators, here! http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/candlelight-processional.htm

A fantastic show, we've seen it before and it's a "Do not miss" event, if you are there when it's going on. There's always a list posted for dates and narrators so you can see ahead of time who you will see during your booked dates. Get there early for better seating.

I wanted to ask this very question. We are going in Dec. and didn't know anything about it. I looked it up on You tube. I am thinking about booking a package.

I strongly recommend the dinner package so you get the reserved seating. Otherwise, the line starts to form several hours before the performances. It is a great reminder of the reason for the season. It is a wonderful show. I have not seen it in a couple of years because my DDs were too young to appreciate it. For adults and those with older children, it is a must-do.

A definite Book It Event... We had reserved seats and when we walked up to present our package tickets, the line had stretched out beyond Japan & almost to Morocco.

I agree with the people who said do the package. I have done that 3 times now and it is nice because I planned to eat at the place I ate at and I didn't have to worry about getting a spot to sit.

I have another question. I went and found some info on the processional and how to book it. The info also mentioned something about pre-arranged fireworks viewing. Anybody know anything about that?

The last time we did the package, the viewing spot was the little plaza that juts out between the 2 gift shops at the entrance to World showcase. It's directly across the water from the American pavilion.

I know where that is. I've seen that area ropped off before the fireworks. Now I know why. Thanks

I will add my two cents and agree that this show is one of my favorite activities of the Christmas season at Disney. Very well done and very uplifting. I also recommend booking the package - save yourself the hassle of standing in line for hours.
