It was published in 2001 in hardcover. The paperback book has an updated chapter at the end. But it's about three years before all the current stuff started. But it follows Eisner's rise from childhood to that period.
The chapters on his childhood and his relationship with his parents is very interesting. I saw right away that those early years would definitely shape who he is now. And he hasn't changed a bit which is the really amusing thing. I had to get mine on Amazon as no bookstore had it in stock.
