Do I really have to get a fast past for the radiator springs racers? This will be the pinnacle of my 5 year olds year. What are some tips to be able to rude this multiple times? I will hang up and listen...

You can do Radiator Springs without a fastpass. Just expect a 2 hour standby line. Single Rider is also available.

The biggest problem without a fastpass is the ride tends to break down. So actually getting to the front of the line in the standby line after 2 hours may never happen :)

Overall, it is much easier to get on the ride now versus the first year. Often the single rider line is just a few minutes in the morning. I've also seen smaller standby lines later in the evening.

What I usually recommend is try for a fastpass first thing in the morning. Take a look at the single rider and standby lines immediately after that. If either looks manageable, do it, and then you still have the fastpass for later.

I know in the past the fastpasses used to be gone within an hour of park opening. I haven't tried lately. Hopefully someone has more details.

What others said. Visit the park multiple days to ride it multiple times. I'd suggest single-rider, if he weren't 5. That gets you a slightly shorter wait.

It may feel dumb waiting in a giant line just for a FP, but theoretically even if getting the FP didn't save you time (it will, especially since you can't do single rider), it's still nice to be able to break up the wait into smaller chunks. Easier for the little ones to handle that way. If there's anyone else other than you and the 5YO, they can do something quick with them while you stand in the FP line... Mermaid or Monsters, most likely.
