California Grill... No doubt... Great atmosphere... great food, great service... and don't forget... you may watch the fireworks up & close...

I've never been to California Grill (not yet, anyway) but I can say that 'Ohana won't be exactly romantic. In fact, we were there last week and were somewhat disappointed. The service was very rushed. We all got the feeling that we were supposed to just stuff in the food and get out.

There were 6 adults in our group, and the dishes they brought were not big enough for all 6 to get one serving. When we asked for more, they would say, "oh sure" but not bring more. Finally, after all courses had been plopped down, they brought more salad and then more sides, etc. By dessert time they caught on and brought us two portions of the bread pudding and ice cream to share.

The food was very good - don't get me wrong - and it is a fun place. Plus we had great seats for Wishes (had not even asked!), so that was very cool. I guess it was just a busy night for them.

But I'd not go there if it were just two people looking for a quiet dinner. Pick California Grill.

Yea i was leaning toward california grill. We are just looking for a nice sit down restaurant that is either in the Magic Kingdom or in a surrounding resort connected by the monorail to eat at around 5-6pm. Then we will be going back to the park for nighttime.

O'hana is absolutely delicious and is cheaper...

but if you don't care about the money and you'd rather have a better and more romantic place for you and your girlfriend... than DEFINITELY go to California Grille

Definately Ohana! The food is good, and if you want romance the grounds of the Polynesian are nice to walk around on. My husband and I went there on the first night of our honeymoon and we got a great seat for wishes and we weren't rushed at all. We actually were there for 2 hours! We made our reservations too early for wishes so we stretched out the meal. The servers weren't shy about giving us more food either. When we started refusing food, they kept offering.

Ohana might be our choice b/c its a different type of food then what we are used to eating. I think a different atmosphere and taste would be nice.

I'd be tempted to say Ohana, for the location if nothing else. True, California Grill has better food, but you certainly pay for it, and given the choice between visiting the Polynesian or the Contemporary, it's a no brainer for me on which is more romantic. If you are trying to get back to the Magic Kingdom for the fireworks anyway (and I would do the same thing...seeing the fireworks from Cali Grill is nice, but it doesn't match seeing it on Main Street at all), I'd go w/ Ohana.

I like O'hana... food is great and it's fun.

If you want something a bit more romantic and with fireworks also... don't forget Narcoosees.... There they broadcast the music for the fireworks, but it's hard to get into for those times...

Good luck!!!

While I prefer California Grill over O'Hana, your dining time (5-6) says save California for another time. California Grill is magic at night when it is the destination and not a quick in and out. To me it's just not the place for a quick stopover on your way someplace else. Save it for when you feel like eating late and going out to watch the fireworks between courses.
