Really looking forward to dinner at Ohana. This will be our first visit. However, my wife is not thrilled about the dessert. (she doesn't eat bananas) Would they provide an alternative if we asked, or is she out of luck?

LOL I love the desert but by the time they bring it out - I am a fat pig and never can eat all of it. The portions are huge :) With that said, yes - they can bring out plain ice cream and I think they also have equal deserts. Be sure to let your service know once you are seated.

Maybe you can get the sauce w/o them adding bananas. I didn't think there were bananas in the bread pudding, only in the sauce. Can someone verify this? (I just ate it recently too but I don't recall)

99.999% positive they're only in the sauce, which won't even be poured on till they bring it to your table. I've made the All Ears version of the 'Ohana bread pudding, and I think that's a VERY close copy of the real thing. The banana slices are added in to the sauce as the last step, they don't appear anywhere else in the recipe. You can probably just ask them to leave the bananas out. It's such an awesome dessert, hope you both get to enjoy a banana-free version!

Was never a fan of bread pudding, but this was wonderful. Honestly cannot recall there being any bananas in the bread or sauce even though i'm sure it was there. We have done Ohana our last 2 visits and we're doing it again on our upcoming trip. The dessert is part of the reason its now a must do ADR.

Agree, bread pudding is not my fav dessert but this is divine bread pudding. I think it's pineapple not bananas in the bread pudding. But honestly I can't recall either. I actually gave up my OHANA ADR  for Mama Melrose this last visit to try a new a venue. But OHANA is probably one of my favorite TS dinners at WDW.
I'm sure they would give you an alternative just ask. But honestly that bread pudding is like no other...

By the time dessert arrives, I am usually ready for a nap!!! My husband loves the bread pudding (I can't eat it) and always manages some extra room for it since it is so fabulous. I definitely recommend trying it once (even without the sauce) and if you don't like it, ask your waiter for something else.

When I was younger I could go to Ohana and walk out being a fat pig, lol. Then head over to the MK when they would be open later in the summer with EMHs until 3am. Now when I leave Ohana all I can do is wish to get back to my room and go to sleep, LOL. To be young again :)

I can not stand bananas. I mean I really hate them. So, I was worried about the dessert since bread pudding it probably my favorite dessert on the planet. It was fine. There were only a few bananas on the side (or maybe they were in the sauce?), and the rest of the family had scooped them up before it got to me. I'm sure you can request no bananas without a problem.

Now the bread pudding on the breakfast buffet at Tusker House has bananas in the bread pudding. But I made an awesome substitute. Creme Anglaise (the bread pudding sauce ) on top of Mickey waffles. You're welcome for that. ;)

I cannot stand bananas. I was very concerned about it when we had dinner at 'Ohana in December. I asked our server about it and he explained that there were only two slices of bananas on top of the sauce they pour over the bread pudding. I don't think that he left them off the sauce, but I certainly never encountered them while eating that delicious dessert. DH is not a fan of bananas either so he might have pushed them off to the side and I just don't remember it.

Needless to say, don't be put off by the bananas, at the very least you can push them off to the side. That bread pudding was wonderful!!!!!!!

My wife doesn't really like Bananas either, but LOVES the dessert at Ohana. Maybe they can go light on the Bananas or just try it as it is, its really good!

They will also leave the banana out of the sauce if you ask. My wife has an alergy to bananas, always enjoys the desert just without them... They even bring her a cup of the sauce so we can enjoy ours with the banana.

I'm also in the camp that hates bananas, but absolutely LOVED this dessert! After going there for breakfast several times, we finally made it to 'Ohana for dinner in January, and I definitely see what all the hype is about! I can't wait to go back!
