Trip Report Oh Mickey! We'reeee back!

Hi Disney friends!

It's been a little over three weeks since I've gotten back from my October WDW vacation and I think i'm finally settling back into reality. It always takes me a little time to get adjusted to life outside the bubble. (le sigh*)

Anyway, it was an amazing vacation. Disney never disappoints. I usually do my trip reports in one sitting but with the short work week next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday we are crazy busy at work. So I am going to break it out by a few days at a time this report.

Here's a quick recap of my trip details;

WHO: Just my best friend Rose and I
WHERE: We stayed off-site at the Marriott World Center in a villa (AMAZING)
WHEN: October 24th-29th

DAY 1: Arrival - MAGIC KINGDOM - WHISPERING CANYON - HOOP DEE DO REVIEW

After a full 24 of nonstop downpourt in Boston and my fear of a delayed flight I was finally on my way to my happy place! My flight was scheduled to leave Logan Airport in Boston at 6:00am but due to some computer issues we sat on the place for about an hour before we actually took off. I was scared to death which never really happens. I've flown alone a bunch of times before but for some reason the idea of a computer issue didn't sit too good with me. Luckily we made it safe and sound and were in Orlando by 9:45am!

After running through the airport to meet my best friend before she was asked to move her car for the 3rd time we were finally reunited and on our way to Magic Kingdom for our 11:45am Space Mountain FP+.

10421609_10153363690073146_5740597504995993900_n.jpg

Out AP wristbands worked without any problems. (The whole watch/wristband combo didn't last very long.)

After our FP+ on Space Mountain, which we really didnt need, I think there was like a 15 minutes wait max we took a spin on the Peoplemover or "People Watcher" as we like to call it.

10687170_10153363693178146_5917987647938428736_n.jpg

I adore this ride. I never understand why there isn't a line. (I'm certainly not complaining.) But it's such a great attraction. So under rated in my opinion. We got to see some cute mini buzzlightyears taking pics with Buzz himself.

Next on the agenda was Splash Mountain and a couple of the dark rides in Fantasyland before we caught the new parade.

It was now time for our lunch reservations over at Whispering Canyon. I can't remember what we ordered but can I just take a second to talk about how truly magnificient this hotel is? Seriously, I felt like I was in a different state for the small amount of time we were there. Our meal at Whispering Canyon was just "ok". I dont think it was worth the price for lunch personally.

We headed back towards the Magic Kingdom for a few more attractions before checking into our hotel to get ready for the Hoop Dee Do Review!

Not the most flattering picture LOL but it certainly shows how I was finally loosening up and enjoying the beginning of my best friend trip!

Sidenote: While we were back at MK we noticed so many people walking around with these giant character tails on. We were on a mission to find them. We were supposed to go to MNSSHP that evening but decided to cancel when we found out that Rose's dad's friends and their kids could no longer meet us. We've done it alone before but were looking forward to the chance to do it with little ones. Anyway, we needed to get a couple costumed pictures in due to the Halloween vibes around the park. Here you have it folks...

150708_10153363690373146_5831952192784845992_n.jpg

And don't think we didn't think about purchasing these... when it was all said and done I just couldn't justify $32.95 for a tail lol while planning a wedding.

After a few more rides we decided it was time to check into the hotel and get ready for our 8:30pm reservation at Hoop De Doo. We checked in and headed right to the pool for a couple drinks and a quick dip. It was very warm the entire time I was there. The weather was perfect. Not a single sprinkle of rain.

Marriott's version of the Lapu Lapu... Ummmm can we say HEAVEN!

10527651_10153333733168146_7708013381552526326_n.jpg

After a couple "Franks" as the bartenders liked to call them...we still had a couple hours before our diner reservation. We had heard many people talk about "Drinking Around the Monorail". We figured we would give it a shot. Our first stop was the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian. I kept he pineapple-fest going with a Lapu Lapu and I can't remember what Rose ordered. It was something from the specialty drink menu. Next we hopped on the monorail and made a quick stop at Mizner's Lounge at the Grand Floridian. I had a Sam Adam's. (what can I say I'm from Boston). Rose had a Dirty Shirley. Our last stop was The Wave at the Contemporary. This is a little hidden gem. The bat was great. We met a bunch of people who were there for a conference and had a drink with them. I ordered a Schofferhofer and Rose got an Angry Orchard. We said goodbye to our new friends and caught the boat over to Hoop Dee Doo!

Hoop Dee Dee is now my new favorite thing at Disney! We had such an amazing time. The show was great. The food was to die for and hello ALL YOU CAN DRINK!? Simply amazing. If you have never been GO! We laughed so hard the entire show.

At this point being up since 3:00am was beginning to catch up with me. We decided to head back to the hotel, have some girl talk and call it a night!

Stay tuned for day 2! HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS - SPLITSVILLE

Ahh! I was at the same Hoop Dee Doo show as you! My 2 friends and I must have been a couple tables away from you (we were slightly further from the stage). We obviously had a great time because Hoop Dee Doo is awesome!

DAY 2: Hollywood Studios & Spiltsville

We woke up bright and early on our second day. The sun was shining and some thrill rides were calling my name!

10404150_10153363693938146_3309299888513620177_n.jpg

I am a huge adrenaline junkie and I love both of these rides. However, ToT always gives me the worst anxiety until we are actually dropped. The whole build up just scares the hell out of me.

My niece is a HUGE Frozen fan. (then again it seems like every little girl her age is). Anyway, I promised her I would stop by the Wandering Oakes and bring her back something special. She was very excited when I told her I met Sven and the Trolls.

I thought this was awesome. Disney should use more of these Aurasma photo opps throughout the park. They are great! I was also so suprised to see how beautiful they made the Wandering Oakes look. Being from Boston the last thing I want to see is snow but Disney really out did themselves again!

After our trip through Arendale we started to get a bit hungry. I always have a hard time finding something quick service that I like at HS. We decided to give the ABC Commissary a shot. I got a cheeseburger and Rose got the Chicken sandwich. Both were pretty good.

DAY 2: Continued

Can I just say how awesome the food at Splitsville is? We got a pizza and a couple sushi rolls and we absolutely loved it! We've been here a few times before to bowl but never ate here. I would seriously recommend this place to anyway. The atmosphere was awesome. Great music, good food... how can you go wrong? After dinner we decided to skip bowling and take a walk around downtown Disney to check out the construction going on for Disney Springs. Basically 90% of the place is boarded off. There really isn't anything to take pictures of lol. I hope when we go back for the Princess Marathon weekend in February there will be more exposed. After a quick walk through we headed back to Splitsville to sit outside and refill our drink coozies. They had a guy playing live music and taking requests. He was fantastic.

10570316_10203150083579394_6692247605812602164_n.jpg

After two of those frozen drinks I started getting severe heartburn and switched to beer. I'm not a big frozen drink person but the price on refills was right so I gave it a shot. Next time i'll probably stick to beer.

The awesome thing about the Marriott World Center where we stayed is that it is located right outside the maingate to WDW on 536. They had car service available to each of the Disney parks and DtD for a very reasonable cost. We never had to worry about driving. It was so convenient.

Stayed tuned.. coming up DAY 3: Animal Kingdom and a random German bar in Downtown Orlando lol!

Note to self...while reading this trip report, it was not a good idea to say to my wife, "Wow, look at the tail on her." All is well though after she viewed the pic. :joyfull:
Enjoying the TR. Judging from the massive smiles, it looks like a wonderful trip.
We have stayed at that Mariott, and at Sabal Palms and Royal Palms. There is another set of villas there that I don't remember the name of. The main pool at MWC is wonderful, and the quiet pool near the big pool is nice. Overall, it is a great place in a very good location. I think we liked Sabal Palms best, but the view in the tower is nice too.

I can't remember for certain but for some reason I believe they did!

Hi Everyone! I'm so sorry that I have been slacking on my posts in my TR from October. After the Thanksgiving Holiday we had a family emergency and my mom was in the hospital so my life has been a bit consumed. She's back home now and all is well. While I have some time I am going to try to bang out another day or two today!

We last left off on Day two of our fantastic October DIsney World vacation! Up Next... DAY 3: O'hana Breakfast & Animal Kingdom.

There was a ton of construction going on while we were at AK. I am so excited for the new Avatarland. So isnt my fiance'. He's actually ready and willing to plan a trip once there is a set completion date.

We made it a point this trip to see the Festival of the Lion King in the new Harambe theater and as usual it didn't disappoint.

Here are a couple more pictures from out day at AK.

I may or may not own all of those now. Don't judge me lol. I plan on having a Lion King themed nursery when Nick and I have kids so I consider this an investment haha.

We got a wonderful safari too!

Later on that evening we heading to Downtown Orlando for a show at a small venue down there. My best friend is a huge fan of the band and didn't want to miss an opportunity to see them. I didn't mind. I was in Florida. Nothing was going to disappoint. However, The Boston Bruins were playing the Maple Leafs that night and being a B's season ticket holder, I needed to find a place that would be showing a bit of the game. I couldnt miss it.

We found this place called...

10411897_10153336317453146_2403227439549796969_n.jpg

If you enjoy a good German beer and some delicious German food this is the place for you! The food was incredible, the beer selection was so diverse andddddd THEY HAD THE BRUINS GAME ON! If you are looking to escape the bubble for an hour or two give this place Radeberger a shot. Same liters of beer as at Biergarten but legit half the price.

The concert wasn't too bad. Not really my kind of music. Rose's fiance joined us for the show and a couple beers. After a late night in downtown Orlando it was time to get back to the hotel for some rest! Tomorrow was an Epcot, Magic Kingdom & Jellyrolls day! We knew our feet were going to need a nice rest lol.

Stay tuned for day 4! Hopefully this time it won't take me a month haha!
