We got the word today that it's a small world will go down for a long rehab into 2005 and that a wall will go up around 20K on 4/19 to reclaim the land. We were told it will take seven months to complete. No word on what will be there after the walls come down.

As glad as I am to see a rehab going into IASM, it does make me wonder just how insane the crowds will get in Fantasyland now that there is one less attraction to steer people to.

Kind of wish they would have taken care of 20K first, THEN moved onto IASM.

I know alot of people love Small World, but I'd like to see it go "interactive"... shot the dolls with "laser" guns like Buzz Lightyear. LOL! Personally, I always hated this ride. My mom had to drag me on it kicking and screaming back in the late 70's-early/mid 80's. That song just drive me INSANE! :hammer:

Well it just wouldnt be Eisner World if all attractions were open and functioning. just gotta love the dead space.

So you suggest wdw turn into Disneyland by not refurbishing its rides at all? I'd rather not have my rides crash when I ride then, thank you very much.

I don't think that's the point they were trying to make.

I think they were trying to say, let's refurbish one thing at a time, as opposed to 3 things at once, as they did with MGM the last time I was there.

I really don't think the Backlot Tour Trams were in any danger of crashing into one another.

Well if your suggesting a connection between the continual dropping of sponsors at Epcot and Eisner, i'd say you might be on to something there, chief.

All i know is that many pavillions have been forced to maintain the status quo for too long, and its begining to show IMO.

All that i know is that since my first visit there have been increasing slices at every park that are closed, from concession stands at the water parks to whole pavillions at Epcot.

The Lagoon has been idle since my 1st ever trip if I ignore its short use as the ole Eisner fav of a meet n greet. A man who makes this many enemies of former buisness partners really does need moving on.

Until just a few months ago, Fantasyland was down one attraction for some time as Philharmagic was being built. Now that is open and running and is turning out to be one of the most popular things at MK, closing down IASW probably won't be too bad. Afterall, its only been a few months since everything was open in Fantasyland anyway.

We can't have attractions always open and also want everything to be 100% perfect. IASW is in need of a major rehab that isn't possible to do overnight and if they do what is rumored in terms of audio, lighting, sets, dolls and possibly some type of intricate indoor facade, it will be well worth it.

From what I've last heard, "it's a small world rehab" will take place June 7, 2004 - March 18, 2005.
Could well be... the only thing that I know is that it starts before summer season and should be finished around spring...

Sorry, Pumbaa. I read into your post as if it actually had to do with the topic of the thread, refurbishments. Apparently not. I'll be sure to assume you are talking about something other than the topic of the thread from now on, too. I can read enough to stay on topic.

Back to the "it's a small world" rehab
