Odd "New Posts" behavior

I've noticed this on multiple late night WDWMagic sessions, where the list of threads returned when selecting "New Posts" drops dramatically somewhere around 1 or 2 AM EST (GMT -4)

For example, tonight I was working through the 3 or 4 pages of threads returned by "New Posts", with the list gradually growing over the night.

Then at whatever the witching hour was, *poof*, I'm down to a handful of threads on one page when I select "New Posts".

Since I cannot query across all forums by date without a valid search keyword (doesn't like " ", imagine that  ), how can I easily find "New Posts" in the wee hours for my time zone?

Does "New Posts" mean "any thread with a new message after midnight today in a specific time zone", and not "any thread with a new message in the last 24 hours"?

Thanks for any info!

A new thread is anything which has been created or added to the Discussion Forums since your last visit.
What you may find is that having been through the 3 - 4 pages of new posts you exit the page or visit other sites - the New Posts are then only those that have been created or added to since you last exited the site
(I think)

Hmm! That may have some truth to it, while I kept one tab in Safari strictly in WDW Magic forums, and did browse other sites in other tabs, about the same time the list was truncated I'd pulled up a 2nd tab with the WDW Magic forum page.

That's the problem!

J/K... But you may want to try FireFox.

I think the "New Posts" reference tables are flushed at times to keep things running smoothly. I've also noticed the same behavior around mid morning eastern time.

This behaviour will be improved soon, with an imminent update to the forum. Currently, it is a limitation of the way the forum works. Thanks :)

Kinda this same thing has been happening to me recently.
I'll have maybe 5 or 6 pages of new posts, then wham none.
Also, all post have been marked read.(and I haven't hit mark all posts read)

What has happened, is it on my side?

I suspect it's a matter of how long you're spending reading the new posts. After a while, it gets harder to track where you have and haven't been.

The server can only track so much for so many users before it bogs down...
