First time traveling in october... Any idea how the weather and crowds will be? I know that the F&W festival is going on but other than that it should be okay right?

Also... What are the odds Disney will offer Free Dining during this time?

weather should be warm and humidity should be low by then. crowds should be mild (20 minutes or less wait times on popular attractions) and there's already free dining through september so you might be out of luck there. avoid epcot on the weekends but do enjoy the F & W Festival during the week.

We plan to go almost the same dates in 2012. I know that the crowds will be mangeable and so should the heat. I am not counting on free dining but am totally hoping for some sort of deal

We've gone during this time period the past 2 years, exact same week last year (11-19). Because a lot of people are on fall break, the crowds are actually worse than I expected. Especially on the weekends. The weather varies from around 80 to 90...never too miserably hot, but not that comfortable either. Just set up your expectations to have a lot of crowds on Fri-Sun, and know that you'll reap the benefits during the week. We usually go to the parks early, come back by 2ish to swim in the resort pool, then head back out for dinner/parks in the evening.

They have offered free dining in that time the past two years. At any rate, I would go ahead and make your ADRs...you can always cancel them if you don't get the meal plan. I've made them for that week for 2 years right at the 180 mark, and I still haven't gotten some of the times I wanted.

My family and I, have gone in October in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010. So take this for what it is.

-Crowd levels are pleasant.
-Waits for rides rarely are more than 20 minutes, except for Rockin rollercoaster and toy story shooting arcade.
-Temperatures are in the 80 degree range.

This is the time we prefer. Other times we have gone are July, September, and December.

If you have other questions, just let me know, and I will try my best to answer them.

Actually...I have a question for you...we are thinking of going next year the last week of Sept/first week in Oct...hopefully before the fall breakers arrive. Any thoughts on that week?

We are "fall breakers" so I am not going to answer you.........

Just kidding, The first and second week of October are the fall break weeks for us, so my previous answers work for them. As far as the last week in September I have no idea, sorry.
