As a Minnesota Twins fan, I honestly couldn't be happier. This man has been a thorn in our side through numerous playoff & regular season games. Still though, you cannot help but admire what he has accomplished. I suppose it is times like these when you put down your team rivalry, and just admire what a legend has done for the sport of baseball. Many fellow Twins fans may not agree, and I certainly won't miss him next time we have to play the Yanks, but as for now I must say hats off Mr. Jeter. You have been one hell of a competitor. See you in Cooperstown!

I couldn't agree more. I am also a Twins fan, and have too many memories of the Yankees killing us, especially in the playoffs. He is definitely a class act who has done a lot for the sport. He rehabbed in my home town last year (Scranton Wilkes Barre Railriders). The town was very excited he was around, and he was very gracious. His visit created quite a buzz and he was extremely kind to all the locals. Lots of respect for him, even though he is a Yankee.

He is a class act for sure. Hard to really dislike him even though he plays for "the evil empire". Another major plus on his record is how he achieved all his success as a clean player...and that's saying a lot in this day & age of steroid usage in baseball. The media tends to focus more heavily on the Barry Bond's and Alex Rodriguez's out there; highlighting players who cheat. Yet many forget there is no shortage of clean players like Derek Jeter and Chipper Jones who leave a legacy of excellence while still playing by the rules.

The Mariano Rivera sendoff was emotional last year (even for non-Yankees fans like yours truly), and I can only imagine what it'll be like when the Yankees bid farewell to their renowned captain this Fall.

I've been a Yankee fan ever since I was taken by a friend's family to Yankee Stadium when I was in 1st Grade (Sorry dad but I don't think the Royals had a chance anyway). That was about the same time Jeter joined the Yankees. So I can't remember a time without him being a part of the team.

It has been wonderful watching the team being led by such a great captain. The Yankees and baseball in general need more players with the character he has shown over the years. I hope this will be a much better final year for him than the one Mariano wound up having. Hopefully the lack of A-Rod will fix our karma.
