Hey all. I am about halfway through my RN program in jacksonville. My gf is a cm and has only been working seasonly, but will me moving to Orlando in a month to become fulltime. So im stuck in jax till I finish my program... any how I will be moving in with her next springtime... and was wondering if there were any opportunities at any of the Disney parks for Rn's. After moving there, I plan to eventually continue on to get my bachelors in nursing at UCF. I know Disney has some work programs through UCF, so I was wondering if any of the members of this site knew of anything particular that related to nursing. I think it would be a wonderful experience to work at some of the parks. I can just as easily work at a hospital as a new grad... but I think it would be a wonderful to work for disney, maybe even part time while I get my BSN. I realize disney would most likely want someone with years experience, but that also why im curious if they have some kind of program for this, maybe some aid for my bsn degree while I work for them etc. I have researched this a bit and have found that most people claim it is all contractors... but there has to be some kind of opportunity somewhere, no? Just wondering if anyone here has any information, thanks a lot!! I know its a long shot... but just like some of you want to be princesses or characters, or imagineers, I would love to somehow be a part of a disney health facility.

I can tell you that when my friend got sick at nearly fainted at AK we were taken to the First Aid station and although the women there were very kind...they knew little more than the average parent. They could use someone a little more knowlegible in the parks when it comes to something as serious as health care.

They are there for basic first aid and thats it, anything serious they have to call the paramedics.

Last month we had to use the First Aid station in the MK and they were very nice. Since both my DH & I are RN's nearing retirement I asked about opportunities. Seems there aren't many. The RN we dealt with is a school nurse who picks up extra shifts. The other nurse on duty was semi retired.

Stick to the plan of getting a job in a hospital, with the shortage you are guaranteed a job even as a GN. Get the experience you need and then think about fill in shifts later on.

Best of luck to you, we need more people like you.

Thank you for the responses so far, that is not what I wanted to hear tigsmom :(. I understand there will be no problem finding a job at a hospital... its just that I think it would be a great experience for the time being... in the long run there is so much more opportunity and better pay and benefits at a normal hospital, but i figure if i ever have the opportunity or desire to work with disney it would be now... I would be absolutely perfect for the job in every way. If anyone knows of anything different, let me know :animwink:

Most free standing places will either use an agency or work with you and an individual contractor...meaning you need to keep track of everything and make sure your malpractice insurance is up to date, taxes are paid, etc. They also want somebody with experience, something a GN really does not have.

((HUGS)) sorry, but don't give up the dream, things change all the time.

I know I've seen RN postings on the Disney website occasionally for the parks. I jsut did a search at disneycareers.com for "nurse" can four listings came up, but all are for Disneyland.

Here's the most recent one:
https://disney.recruitmax.com//main/careerportal/Job_Profile.cfm?szOrderID=77503

You could also try giving the WDW Job Line a call, 407-828-1000 and ask them about positions.

Also not nursing, but the Reedy Creek emergency services has EMT openings now and then.

I see job postings for RN's at the Universal Studios employment site all the time. I don't see why WDW would be any different.

Health Services is the place you want to seek. It's the white building in the rear of the Epcot Cast Member parking lot. It's where Cast Members have to be cleared from before returning to work after long illnesses.
