Nun sues Disney for $1B over 'Sister Act'

Apparently, imitation isn't always the sincerest form of flattery. At least in the case of "Sister Act."
The Walt Disney Company and Touchstone Pictures are being sued for $1 billion -- yes, with a "b" -- by a nun who claims that her life story was stolen and used in the 1992 film.

In a suit filed in New York Supreme Court last week, Queen Mother Dr. Delois Blakely of the Franciscan Handmaids of Mary Convent in Harlem claims that "Sister Act" -- and its 1993 sequel, as well as a stage musical adaptation -- used "plaintiff's actual life experiences without her permission or authorization, thereby irreparably damaging her by depriving her of the windfall of financial gain reaped by defendants."
"The subplots actualized in the said motion picture 'Sister Act' and portrayed by Whoopi Goldbergare her real life experiences," the suit adds.
Blakely sued Disney, as well as producer Scott Rudin and Sony Pictures, late last year over the matter, but had that suit voluntarily dismissed in January.
Disney has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.

In 1958, Queen Mother Dr. Delois Blakely entered the Franciscan Handmaids of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Convent. For ten years, as Sister Noelita Marie. I guess she need money for the New Future Foundation Inc
that she founded

She isn't a nun. I was so disgusted that I googled her to check.

She's just another person searching out money for nothing.

OMG, really this so-call nun has none of her senses, why because she think she's slick ! I was raised in the Franscian Handmaids of Mary Convent, born 1950, raised there from eight months old until age 12 by a now deceased, Sister Marie Bernadette; there was a Mother Eugena, and later a Mother Cecelia. We went to All Saints Catholic School, and there was also a Saint Alawishes (spelled by sound) both in Harlem. There was also and still in existence a Camp Saint Edwards alongside the Novishete ( spelled out by sound) in Staten Island. This dumb, miscalculating numb skull is truly blessed that I wasn't around her when she broadcast this fake lawsuit because I would've cursed her backside for mentioning this Franscian Handmaids of Mary Convent in such a disgusting reference for her phony tenure as one of their nuns. This is my childhood home, and may her foundations no longer prosper if it has gained any monies at all, and to even represent any African Foundations as we'll---- she needs to be bought to her knees with no mercy.

It's also a thread from 2 years ago...

She missed the Statute of Limitations by a long shot, not to mention that she is insane. The film was originally written for Bette Midler, by the way, and Goldberg stepped in only when things fell apart with Midler. I have to wonder if she would still think it was based on her if Midler had played the role. Also, what is a nun going to do with a billion dollars? Don't they take the vows of chastity, poverty, and all that jazz?
