I purchased a simple Sony Cybershot 16.1 mega pixels point and shoot camera for our WDW trip.
I bought a 32 gb memory card and am wondering approx how many pics will fit on that.
Trying to decide if I need another memory card. We are there for 7 days in all 4 parks and POR resort.

5700 images should be way more than enough... Holy hell that's a lot. My 8GB card shooting RAW gets me just under 200 images. I cant imagine having 5K in the pocket

I typically shoot around 2500 photos each trip. I am by no means even a great photographer and some of the shots come out looking like garbage so they get tossed. I wish I could take photos like the ones I see in the photography threads here. In all we keep around 2000 of the images and print about 250 of them for my wife's Disney (current year) photo album she buys and other various wants. I think the biggest card I have ever taken is an 8GB with an 8MP camera. This next trip I will likely be taking a 22MP camera and a 32GB card.

I agree with ddbowdoin. 5K for 7 days should be plenty. I would suggest, if at all possible, backing up the files to a laptop every night just in case. All your images will be in that one card and you don't want to lose all those precious memories if something happens.:)

Also if you take videos that eats a lot of room up on your card. I would also take an extra card, my son had a brand new go corupt on him after taking 70 pictures, luckily I found a program on line to recover them (called ZAR if anyone is interested, fabulous FREE program) We take three cards, and yes back them up every night.

Memory cards are extremely cheap these days. I would grab another, so you don't have to be concerned, this will also give you flexibility to grab video if needed.

I would grab another, just as backup. You may want to take video or something.

you'll have more than plenty unless you plan on shooting entire shows on video :) You're bigger issue is 'all your eggs in one basket'. Don't let the space of the disk fool you into not taking photos off the card regularly. Nothing will crush you more than losing thousands of photos due to theft, user error, or corruption. So don't wait till the card fills up to copy photos off!

You'll be fine with what you have. Enjoy!

I carry around 4 16gb SD cards when I go to the parks. Usually I dedicate one card per park. I have yet to run out of space..and thats with me TRYING to fill them up and shooting raw. You'll be fine.

It really is good advice, having thousands of shots on one card is just asking for disaster. Personally, I have several 8gb cards that I swap during a trip. I have a hard-side memory card 'wallet' that I keep them all in so they don't get damaged.

I would suggest you get 2 more cards!! Reason being would be u woul use 1 switch half way during the day just incase the card is corrupted and have 1 as a back up in the even both are out of order... Always be prepared for the worse

having as many cards is the way to go... cards have failed on me, although the data was successful retrieved through 3rd party software.

I carry 8 8GB cards... all UH1 speeds, Best Buy had a deal on them at the time as I think I paid 30 a card which was 50% off, at least at the time
