Pre-Trip November 2018 Disneymoon: The obsessive planner vs the spontaneous one

Who?
Me (Kayleigh) and my fiancé Jon. We've been together about six years now and we're getting married 17th November this year. We're from the UK and I've been to WDW probably six times, always with family, and Jon's been once before. I love to plan so Disney is my dream trip (we used to joke when we were younger that my mum had everything scheduled down to toilet stops, so I think I got it from her!). Jon however is much more relaxed and spontaneous, however I think he's accepted that you have to plan things for Disney and is happy to take a back seat while I plan away to my heart's content!

(Apologies for the faraway picture of us, but there really are very few pictures of us together!)

What
Honeymoon! We discussed honeymoon destinations for ages, debating many options - we took a road trip around the Deep South last year so we were keen on doing something similar but eventually decided we'd like to do Disney with a tiny bit of exploring thrown in.

When
We're going 20th November, three days after we get married, until 4th December, flying from Manchester airport. This puts us right over Thanksgiving, but neither of us wanted to delay the honeymoon for ages after the wedding and the prices weren't too bad (for a Disney holiday!). Also Jon is a soldier so we're a bit more limited on leave.

Where
We'll be flying from Manchester airport and staying at Caribbean Beach Resort. My dream would be to stay at the Polynesian, but there is no way the budget stretches to that! It wasn't much more to stay at CBR than one of the All Stars or Pop Century, probably due to the construction. I'm hoping the construction to the main part of the resort (Centertown etc) will be done by the time we go, but if not, I'm not really worried because we only plan to really sleep at the hotel, most of the meals I have planned are in the parks or other resorts.

So, that's the basic rundown of the trip basics, I'll be back later with my preliminary plans for each day and meals etc. I've already planned and replanned the itinerary about five times since we booked the trip and my ADR day still isn't for over a month!

Thanks for reading!

Right, so here's my day-to-day plan so far - we've got quite a few days out of Disney for various reasons but hoping to get everything done. (By the way, we have the regular dining plan. The QS plan was free for us but I upgraded to regular because it'll be nice to have a few nice dinners on our honeymoon! I've only done QS plan before so this'll be fun for me! I haven't put in the QS meals we plan on doing because I'm happy to just do what we feel like on the day.)

Day 1 - Tuesday 20th November
Our flight is due to arrive at 1555, so we'll need to pick up the hire car, clear security and drive to Caribbean Beach to check in!

Dinner: Homecoming, Disney Springs
I'm going to try for a reservation about 2030ish, to make sure we have plenty of time to get there.

I don't plan on going to the parks this day as we have 14-day tickets and I'd rather go to a park on the last day.

Day 2 - Wednesday 21st November - Magic Kingdom
Breakfast: 'Ohana
I'm going to try and get quite an early reservation for this, as I know we'll be up early if our bodies are still on UK time! However, as it's the day before Thanksgiving, I know getting an ADR for this might be tough so my plan is flexible! I love Stitch (as you can probably tell from my username) and the only other character breakfast I've done before is Crystal Palace. Jon isn't really up for character breakfasts, but this is one I really want to do.

I know Magic Kingdom will probably be super busy the day before Thanksgiving, but I'll give it a go with an open mind to leaving/takign a break if it's too bad! I'm going to aim for early Fast Passes for BTMRR, Splash Mountain and Pirates.

Dinner: Jungle Skipper Canteen
Hopefully around 1830, so we can be out in time for Happily Ever After. I've only ever seen Wishes and I'm sceptical about the videos I've seen of HEA but I'm sure it'll be great when I'm there.

Day 3 - Thursday 22nd November - Thanksgiving
Breakfast: Whispering Canyon Café
This looks like a lot of fun and good food, plus I want to check out Wilderness Lodge.

After breakfast, we'll head on into the masses of traffic because we have family who live in Lakeland so we're going to visit them for Thanksgiving dinner. They're making the trip over to England for the wedding, so it seems like we should return the favour and visit them!

Day 4 - Friday 23rd November - Busch Gardens?
As we'll be staying over in Lakeland, it made sense to make this day our Busch Gardens day. The last time Jon went to Florida, he got free tickets to Busch Gardens for being in the military. However, from what I can gather, the offer is no longer extended to British soldiers, so we might just explore some of the beaches around the area before heading over to Old Town in Kissimmee for the muscle car cruise in the evening.

Day 5 - Saturday 24th November - Resort day?
This day I don't really have anything planned yet, as the main thing I want to do this day is dinner. I'm trying to convince Jon to go to Typhoon Lagoon, but he's not a great fan of swimming so he's kind of reluctant.

Dinner: California Grill
This will be the one-week anniversary of us getting married. I'm not one of those people that celebrates every little milestone, but seeing as we really want to do Cali Grill, it'd be nice if it could be this day to see the fireworks.

Day 6 - Sunday 25th November - EPCOT
I'm not super familiar with Thanksgiving holidays, so I'm not sure whether this day will be super busy or quieter because everyone will be going home but we're going to try EPCOT this day.

Lunch: Biergarten
We both love German beer and Oktoberfest so this seems like an obvious choice for a late-ish lunch. I also want to line our stomachs as I've always wanted to drink around the world. (I know some people on here are against it, but I promise not to be loud and obnoxious or vomit on anyone.) I was originally planning to do it all in one day, but I think it'd be more sensible and achievable to do it over the two EPCOT days I have planned.

I'm hoping to get Fastpasses for Spaceship Earth, Soarin' and Figment. (I know there's usually only a small wait for Figment, but thinking about my other EPCOT day, it's really the only other thing we'd want to ride that we don't have planned for the other day.)

Day 7 - Monday 26th November - Universal Studios
I plan to head over to Universal this day, if we can afford the tickets.

Dinner: The Edison, Disney Springs.
Hopefully a late-ish reservation so we can spend plenty of time at Universal but also so hopefully we can see some of the entertainment at the Edison.

OK so that's week one. I'm going to leave it there for now because that's quite a long post so far! Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated, this is my first time planning so I'm sure there are flaws in my plan!
