November 2009

Hi

Just found us a deal for november 2009 (7-21) - all star sports £1814 for the 2 of us including flights but...

We normally visit in May can anyone help before I book -

How does the weather compare to May for rain and heat?

Will the water parks be open?

Will the christmas decorations be up, never seen Disney at Christmas? Will the Osbourne lights be up??

Woudl Miceys christmas party be on that early?

How busy are the parks - wait times compared with May?

Anyone with any other information woudl be appreciated in helping me book this holiday

Sorry for so many questions just wondering if it was worth the trip compared to the usual May visit.

Si

November is a really nice time to visit. We visited at that time about 4 years ago and while the temps were in the high 70's, it was a bit humid.

The water parks should be open but probably with shorter hours.

We were able to see the Osborne Lights on our trip, but I think they have moved the "opening date" of the Lights back to later in November (around Thanksgiving). However, you may be able to attend the Very Merry Christmas Party at the MK. Separate tickets are needed, but it is fabulous event. Also, the Wine & Food Festival will still be going on at Epcot. :sohappy:

A really good resource for researching all the items you are wondering about is the allearsnet site. http://allears.net/pl/events.htm Rehabs, park hours, attendance levels, etc. are all discussed, making the planning of a WDW trip so much easier! Good luck and enjoy!

One thing is the luckily that is before the 26th of November which the begining of a Holiday weekend (Thanksgiving) over here and one of WDW big weekends with lots of crowds.

The weather should still be nice, and you still will have very warm days. The waterparks should be open, as we usually go the first week of December and they are open then, unless you have a real chilly day which they could close.

The decorations should be going up and some may be lit, but alot of that goes on the 26th the day after Thanksgiving so you may miss the Osborne lights.

As to the party check following was Allearsnet.com

The dates you mentioned are actually the dates that we visit wdw every year, and I must say it is a fabulous time to go. The weather is gorgeous, not too hot and not too cold, chilly in the morning and 70's during the day, and a little chilly at night. This past year, Nov. 2008 was kind of odd though because it was really hot for most of the days we were there...and it rained quite a bit. Most of the xmas decorations are usually up, but not all of them. They didn't have the Osbourne Lights until the very end of November, which they just started last year...we always used to see it the week we go each year. But going when the parks are decorated for xmas is amazingggg! MVMCP is wonderful and a lot of fun! I think you definately will love going that time of year, and changing it up a bit to what you are used to. That week is right in between Jersey Week and Thanksgiving Week so the crowds are always very light during that time.. and the lines for the rides, other than TSM are mostly walk-ons! That is a big part of why we go that week! Need to know anything else just ask! :animwink:

Heading for the great escape.
A little chilly? It was bloody freezing, literally on some nights. Pleasant during the day, and definitely a jacket required tour. Hopefully this year will be a tad warmer.

thanks for the info so far - but what are the wait times like - is it busy in the parks or quiet, has may is very good for 20 minute waits on most rides?

I think youll miss the mayhem of thanksgiving week. So Id expect crowds to be at May levels. A few days later and its worse than the first weeks of August (unless last year was an exception). After this trip I dont think Ill be visiting at this time again. Much prefer May or late Oct early Nov, to catch both Halloween and the Food N Wine festival. Florida without the heat doesnt feel right, though avoiding the odd hurricane and daily thunder storms is a bonus.

We always go late October early November. This year we're flying out on 27 Oct until 10 Nov. We love the weather at this time, just like a nice warm mid summers day at home. Evenings are a bit cooler but a light jumper or sweatshirt solves that. Wait times are pretty good, with the odd exception on the major attractions, but use the fastpass wisely. Evening extra magic hours at are brilliant in early to mid November from our experience - not many people in the parks at all. Worst thing about going this time of year is the shock when you face the cold weather after your flight back home. Go for it.

We have gone the 2nd full week of November each of the last two years. One year it was really cold at night and this past year we never put our long sleeve Christmas shirts on for the party.

We also go the same week of April/May (next week) each year and when comparing the lines, I prefer the November crowds better.

We have had 1 or 2 showers over the last 3 years in April - so it's not that bad. November, we never have had rain.

I personally recommend the Christmas Party - even if you just want the freedom of hopping on and off rides with no lines. It's worth the money! With the exception of the Christmas Party, nothing else starts until the Friday after Thanksgiving now. It was different two years ago though.
