Nov. 8 ToT 4 Update

After reading the November 8 update about the new ToT 4, I'm just filled with excitement and anticipation. It sounds awsome, and a lot more intense that ToT 3 Fear Every Drop (incidenatlly, I never knew that was the name of the sequence, I just thought it was a slogan for ToT-- did ToT 2 have a name?)

Anyway, here's my question: Did ToT 3 drop from the "9th Hortons"? If it did, did it ever drop completely? I think the current is a bit too short -it always left me wanting more. Anyway, all the new effects sound cool- especially where you think the ride is over, and the elevator starts to shake and shoots you up and down one last time -- genoius. I can't wait til January when I get to see it- I just hope nothing happens to delay it's opening. (I'm going at the end of the month, so it should be open. :sohappy: )

Tower2 was called Tower of MORE Terror, of course.

Tower 3 did NOT drop all the way from the top. Tower 2 did for a time, I believe it was changed mid run not to, and Tower 1 definetly did.

Oh, yeah, now I remember Tower of More Terror. Thanks for reminding me. So, what your saying is, there was a ToT 2 1/2 when they changed it to not drop from the top. Interesting.....

The big doors of the drop shaft that open and close during the profile, providing the view of the outside, are referred to as "Horton doors."

I'm not sure why they're called that, but I have a hunch it might have something to do with this company.

I believe that the second version of Tower of Terror was called "Twice the Fright". The posters from that time have that slogan on them, and the small tower in the median outside the park said that at the time.

ToT3 is the one in the top diagram :)

There shouldnt be any delay in opening. The source of that info informs me that ToT4 has been ready for over 12 months, and the precise opening time has been purely a marketing decision.

Another intrersting piece of info is that the ToT motors now work at 300% of their originally intended performance. :)

Okay, so now I'm really confused!

I love ToT, but I have no idea what ya'll are speaking of!

Just to help me out - when I was at Disney 12/00, what drop sequence was I on?

I just hate being confused....:(

That new info looks amazing.

I especially like not knowing if they've stopped it or not, with knowing that one of the sequences goes again.

Well done Steve.

You rode the current profile (Fear Every Drop). It's similar to the first of the four new ones. I believe that the new version has slightly different drop lengths, but the order of up/down movements is about the same.

Now I'm a little confused. How can ToT4 be ready- don't they have to close ToT and install the new changes? Is ToT open right now- b/c I was under the impression that it was? And if it is ready now, why wouldn't they want to have it u[ and running for the holiday rush in December?

FOR THE FINAL TIME!

ALL THEY DID WAS CHANGE THE SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION AND ADD SPECIAL EFFECTS DURRING THE NIGHT!!!

NOTING, and I repeate, NOTHING done durring a supposed re-hab. They did it at night. This is also the reason why you can see those dolls at then bottom of the drop shaft.

And why Janurary, because then it would be something to adverstise durring the new year and this would make everyone going durring Xmas come back latter.

I think people have a hard time grasping the concept that ToT was designed with upgradeability built in.

It isn’t like those air tower things you see in amusement parks. They have actually motors that run it like a real elevator would. They could probably switch the whole thing back to the original configuration from opening day overnight if they wanted to for some reason. With this in mind, they can test new configurations at night while still running the old ones during the day with no noticeable difference to guests in any way shape or form. It is probably one of the most intelligently designed rides ever for this simple reason alone. They can even do maintenance on it a shaft at a time which means that in theory, they would almost never have to shut the whole thing down for planned maintenance and refurbishment. :)

Man, that would be cool for like the 10th anniversary of ToT. Or even have all the different drop profiles available at once for like a month ... that would be great.
