Trip Report Nov 13-14 - AKA: Anniversary trip sans kids!

DW & I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary and went for a quick two day trip for the first time without the kids. Quick shout out to my BIL who graciously came down with his son to spend a three night three day weekend with three teenage boys, I owe you!

Drove from Wilmington, NC after I got off work on Thursday Nov 12th and drove to a friends house who lives in Savannah, GA for the night. Got back on the road at 5:30 am and headed to DHS. Since DW & I have never been during this time of the year we were excited about seeing the Osborne lights and the parks decorated for Christmas & boy did they not disappoint! We walked up to the ticket booth at 10:30 and walked into the park around 10:45. Camera in hand and ready to enjoy the day.

First destination for us was to slowly walk down Hollywood Blvd and check out the shops and decorations. Have I mentioned how much easier this is without two teenage boys?

We first made our way to the back of the park to check out the Streets of America during the day and try and find some of the hidden gems and scout out a spot we would try and watch the ceremony from. Then we made it over for our first character meet, why not Santa Goofy! Very short wait, like 5 minutes from there we walked down by Toy Story Mania that was already at a 70 min wait (this ride is crazy!) and got our picture taken with Sorcerer Mickey. From there we decided to hit some shops and grab some lunch before the 1pm LMA show. First time ever grabbing a QS meal at Pizza Planet and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I had the meats and DW the veggie pizza and both the Caesar salad and thought it was quite tasty.

LMA was fantastic as always, sad to see this go but I know whats coming will be worth it in the end....... if I can be patient and wait that long! Since we weren't planning on riding much we used a FP to make sure that we got in to see the show.

Finally we decided it was time to go ride something and use our FP's so off to ToT and RRC and they were amazing as always.

Once finished we decided to take in some of the Citizens of Hollywood performances, with the boys we don't get to see this in their entirety and boy have we been missing out on some fun!

Next, off to claim our spot and watch the Osborne Lights ceremony! I will add pictures and video in a later post on this.

After the lights we had a 7:45 ADR at the Minnie's Holiday Dine @ H&V. Characters in attendance were: Goofy, Daisy, Donald, Mickey and Minnie. They were very attentive and gave many cute attention to DW and I who were there on our anniversary dinner. The food, the food was absolutely magnificent. Holy smokes way too much to eat as I felt I needed to sample everything.

Afterwards we had a nice leisurely stroll out of the park and back to the hotel to get rested up for tomorrow at MK!

Finally made it to a rope drop ceremony! Boy was it worth it!

Watching this ceremony on YT isn't the same as seeing it in person, you can really feel the energy and it just sets the mood for the entire day IMO.

We had FP's set for rides we wanted to do and didn't stress about getting on to 7DMT because we knew it would be crazy and we would just ride it when we are back with the entire family in June. We knocked out the following rides by 11am: PP, IASW, LM, HM & BTMRR. It was interesting watching what people were choosing to ride and skip.

Grabbed an early lunch at Pecos Bill and the new menu I must say is fantastic, DW and I got the Rice bowls and with the fixin's bar it was a much better choice versus the old offerings there.

It was near 1pm so off to watch Dream Along with Mickey. With the Castle mostly finished this show is so much better!

Off to our first FP of the day, SM then onto Buzz and then I finally did Stitch's Great Escape.... was disappointed with the ride honestly.

Off to Pirates for our last FP and it was great getting to see it after the referb....then ride stopped and we sat for 5 min. Same ole same ole I guess lol.

After Pirates we got our first ever Dole float. Why o why have I waited so long!
So good and will def be getting one when we go back in June, hope the lines aren't crazy long.

After getting energized we decided to head over to Tomorrowland and ride the PM and the CoP. We checked out the Super Incredibles Dance Party for a bit, boy Frozone is the life of the party now!

Afterwards we decided to hit a lot of the photographers since we don't have many pictures of just the two of us we went out searching for photographers, this was more fun than It might seem and we have so many good shots of the two of us I just might have to pull the trigger and buy the whole lot!

Around 6pm DW lost steam, her feet were getting sore and I decided it might be time to wind down. Then she came up with a great idea to finish off the great weekend we were having. We rode the Monorail to the TTC and hoped on the Epcot line and rode the loop just to get a glimpse of Epcot. Back at the TTC we walked back to the car and bid adieu to WDW. Its always sad to leave, but I know when we are back on June 26th the magic will still be there and I will be just as excited as I was on this trip!
