Noticed something on SE.

On the section where you look to your left, and see people on a boat-look to your right, and see water, I noticed that, now, on the water, there is a small boat, and the boat to your left now moves, as if it were on water. Now, why would they go through all of that trouble to change something that small if they're thinking of possibly replacing it with something else? It makes me wonder.

Here's the scoop: The boat moving effect was originally intended for the scene. Therefore, earlier this year, when the idea was finally greenlighted, the Animatronics left side was covered by a black tarp. To compensate, a little boat was made for the right. When the effect opened just a few months ago, the little boat to the right remained. :)

I did see it once with the black tarp in front of it, and I thought that they had gotten rid of the animatronic altogether. I thought "Gee, they're already demolishing SE." I thought that they would get rid of the boat when they finished changing the boat, but they didn't (it looks better like that, anyway.)

Ditto... unless i'm corn-fusing it with WOM ship vs sea monster scene.

I'm going to Ditto your Ditto (which can be quite painful if not done properly). I always thought the boat moved as well.

I don't know, I could have sworn that it hadn't moved before. I wish that I could get some more confirmation on this theory.

After 7 years worth of visits to EPCOT and the other Disney parks with my Annual Pass, I'm going to have to ditto the above. I'm pretty sure the boat on the left has always moved.

You're probably all thinking that the PEOPLE on the boat have always moved-but, now, on top of the person on the boat moving the lever up and down, the boat as a whole sways back and forth, as if it were floating on water. This is what is new.

Elementary, my dear, Jonnie...

:p

You learn little bits of information from different threads and forums...after putting the fact that it went down for refurbishment together, I visited the park - and it happened to be "unveiled." :)

P.S., folks, I would ask a SE Cast Member, Guest Relations, or perhaps Dave Smith via Disney Magazine.

The boat always moved...however in the past few years it hadn't been as animated as it used to be. In the rehab of the scene they made it as animated as it was suppose to be. So the boat does move and always has moved, its just it didn't move as much as it does now.
