since my son is a toy story nut i looked it up to se if they planned on making toy story 3. It appears that there are plans in the work for another movie. Last i heard they were talking to Tim Allen and Tom Hanks to revive their roles. Only time will tell.

if it's true...I hope they don't ruin a great movie. Sequels are usually "pushing it" ya know.

TS3 was begun production at the "Circle 7" studio set up under tension between Eisner and PIXAR, with the intent of handling sequels to PIXAR movies. The plot was to involve Buzz being sent back to Taiwan due to a defect. No one is sure how much work was actually accomplished on the movie, but it supposedly died along with Circle 7 when PIXAR was brought back into the loop.

Thanks for the info!

I was actually sad to see that they would make yet another Toy Story movie. Although it's a GREAT Disney movie and Toy Story 2 a great sequel, I was afraid they would butcher Toy Story with the 3rd one.

While it's true that when Circle 7 died, Toy Story 3 was cancelled, recently I do recall Pixar saying they picked up Toy Story 3 again. Who knows if it will work, and I bet that if Hanks and Allen opt not to do it, the film will be canned anyway.

What do you mean, sequels ruin movies? I mean, come on, look at Land Before Time #356743456!!! Beautiful story...*sniff*

Why on earth would they want to make even a single sequel for Land Before Time? I mean, the first one was pushing the storyline, and it was the first one. Bah. I <3 Disney.

Not sure if any of you are familiar with MovieFone on AOL Instant Messenger, but it is supposed to list upcoming movies in your area. You can list all the movies or just search for a specific move. Anyway, I plugged in Toy Story 3 and the following is it's response:

Moviefone: Toy Story 3 has not opened yet. It will open on 12-31-10

I am not sure if this is accurate or not. There have been several times when Moviefone has been way off on movie times. I found it interesting that Toy Story 3 is even in the system though.

It seems lately that this "franchise" of animated films has been the only one with a good sequel. Rather than Bambi 2 and Cinderella 2 and so on....not that they were really bad but they ruined the story in my opinion. But toy story on the other hand has a pretty good storyline to hold a third movie, they can basically do whatever they would want.

I find it hard to believe we could accurately predict when a movie is going to come out that is by all accounts still in the early infancy of pre-production, especially one four years from now. Also, how many childrens/family movies open on New Years Eve?

acording to the new head of animation there will be no more pixar sequels.

and toy story 3 was to be direct to video .. it did not feature Tom hanks or tim allen. of course toy story 2 was supose to be direct to video but i guess they changed their minds.

But TS2 was great - possibly better than TS1.

I didn't say TS2 wasn't great...it was! But you don't always get great sequels. I personally like TS1 better, but TS2 does come close. But think about it...TS3? That's just ridiculous, it's like Disney can't come up with anything better...so they think "let's just take something that's already really great and get another story out of it." Someone mentioned The Land Before Time...do you want it to end up like THAT???

...or how about:
Peter Pan II
The Little Mermaid II
Tarzan II
Cinderella II

I mean, c'mon Disney, I know you're MUCH more creative than making sequels to EVERYTHING!

But would they stop at 3? Then they'll make 4, 5, 6...see my point?

All of your "...or how about:" list was made for Profit, thats all, and thats the mark of death for a sequel. Pixar has already proven and said that its the story that makes a film. I want some seguels, as long as they are done with the same care as the original and not just to make quick cash on a franchise. And Toy story 2 is a fantastic example of that. In my opinion toy story 2 was better than 1 or at least just as good.
