I was just reading a brochure from 1972 from Gulf Oil on WDW. It was really interesting, especially the prices of food and lodging back then. Prices for food were: hot dogs $.45, soft drinks $.15 and $.25, Hamburger plate at the Crystal Palace $1.75, prime rib dinner at King Stefan's was $4.50, with juinor size being $2.25. Lodging at the Contemporary and the Polynesian were from $29 to $44.

In the back of the brochure, there is a description of services offered at the Gulf Oil Hospitality house (now the camera shop on main st). It says: "Just across from City Hall, on the town square in the Magic Kingdom, you'll find a Victorian, yellow brick building. It's Gulf Hospitality Center. At the desk you'll find attractive young girls to answer your questions about the best routes home........" .
Could you imagine if they tried to print that these days? Those were definately simpler times then.

That statement defineatly would be out of place today, and on thoes prices, WOW thats a culture shock, Thoes prices have to be for the garden wings. I have a reservations card from 1977 from the Contempoary and the tower rooms were $75 a night and the garden wings were around $55 a night. I don't think they were using a seasonal rate set up at that time
