Not a pin code - maybe the power of suggestion?

I received a mailing from Disney World yesterday that looked a lot like a pin code. It stated, "Thank you for your interest in visiting us this October..." and went on to tell me deals and suggested places where we could stay. The problem is, I did not make a reservation or even get on the website to shop around for a trip. Could this be a simple address mix up with someone having a similar name, or is it something more strategic? I think Disney is using the power of suggestion to lure people into planning vacations they normally would not have. I've never been there in the fall, but I have always wanted to. Now it is all I can think about!

Disney's newest thing is telepathy. In fact, they shut down Innoventions West so they could use the space to launch this new technique. They read your mind and figured out that you've always wanted to go in the fall, so they jumped on it. :p

I take it no actual pin code came with?? I haven't seen or heard of anyone getting one of those in awhile.

I seriously thought they might be playing games with their statistics. They would know our only daughter just turned 18. In their mind they think, "18 year olds go to college - parents get depressed - how can parents deal with an empty nest - DISNEY WORLD!"

Strangely, my dad keeps getting pin codes. He hasn't been to Disney in 20 years, but everytime I go (our names are not the same) he gets more pin codes the next year and I get none.

I found very entertaining the last pin code looked custom tailored to couples with no kids (which they are in their mid 50's, my sis and I are in our 30's). It's amazing the type of information firms have on people.

Quickly going through the official website reservations: 2 adults for 7 days / 6 nights October 25 - 31 in a Value resort (Music) would come out to $770.43 including park hopper tickets.
Ha! Love it! the quote they gave in their brochure is higher than what it on their website!?!? Maybe they do that on purpose too, so if you call to book, the travel agent gets to be the "bearer of good news" by telling you there's a discounted rate that you need to lock in now before it goes away! ;);)

The more I think about it, the more I'm certain this was not an oversight on their part...It's all strategy!!:greedy::greedy:

May is the second month in a row and the 3rd time this year that we were sent Pin Codes. My wife and I both got separate mailers with the same offer to the same address in April and May. 2 of them were the same offer of up to 30% off and free hoppers with a minimum 5 day stay. The other was just 30% off and Free Dining later in the year.

That was the case with my mother and I. I would go every year and she would get pin codes all the time (hadn't been in 14-15 years). But last year, I decided to call & see if I could use her pin and they let me use it without a problem!

In all the trips I've taken, I've never gotten a pin code but Ive gotten a lot of sales pitches to see if they could interest me in a DVC. :banghead: Every time we get a mailing with a Disney look to it.... I'm wishing.

Whoah! I think that is rare. I did use one of my dads, our names are different, he goes by his middle name as a first name, and we have the same middle name.

My mothers has a completely different first & last name than me. Her address was different than mine too. The CM I dealt with, said he had to transfer the code to my account then could apply it to our reservation. He didn't even ask for proof that she was my mother or anything.

Never gotten a pin code in 8 years! Never have been able to take advantage of the "bounce backs". We got a "Thank you for visiting" post card in 2013. Do they still do those?

Two things:
1) My mailing was NOT a pin code. It was an invitation of sorts, but also thanking me for my interest in a vacation I had not investigated.

2) You got a pin code for free dining AND 30% room discount?! I have never heard of both together in one code. I would seriously need to consider a trip if I was given that deal.

We got that post card in 13'! This time we got a sketch of Mickey Mouse that says Thank You! Your pal, Mickey. We were also lucky in 13' because my older DD got a free dining pin code & we totally took advantage of that!:geek:

I just got a ''hand drawn'' signed Mickey thank you for visiting...it was cute and I would have saved it but it said MY LAST NAME Family Vacation 2015...and only me and my daugher have my last name. I haven't changed to my husbands yet..and his 3 kids have his last names as well...so I tossed it
