Hey all, I'm trying to plan a quick jaunt to Disneyland in late august...can anyone recommend a non resort Hotel that's on the relatively cheap side? Also, what are your favorite Non Disney hotels to stay at near Disneyland?

I usually stay at the Hojo Anaheim (www.hojoanaheim.com) and we usually get great rates with the Entertainment book (check out www.entertainment.com).

I think I just saw that they added some dates at the Entertainment rate for the end of August so definitely check them out. It's clean, service is nice, and it's walking distance to the parks (I'd say about an 8-10 minute walk).

My family has always stayed at the Best Western Anaheim Inn. Inexpensive, clean, near Denny's and McDonald's for breakfast, and right across the street from the park.

We just stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites, right across Harbor Boulevard from the parks. We were a five-minute walk from the front entrance to both the Magic Kingdom and DCA; the hotel has suites, so there's a separate room if you have teens or other kids traveling with you; a microwave, fridge, free breakfast, valet parking so you don' t have to hassle with parking your own car. And we could see the Matterhorn out our hotel room window, and could have watched the fireworks from there (if we hadn't already been in the park and not wasting time being in our hotel room when we could be experiencing Disney magic). Rates were reasonable; less than a third of the Disneyland Hotel and twice as close to the front gate of the park. We will stay there again the next time we visit, believe me. Close to all the eating places along Harbor Blvd, too.

Through the years, I've stayed at almost every hotel within walking distance of Disneyland.
The 3 Disney owned hotels along with the Marriott and Hilton are obvious standouts.
But there's a ton of great options. Those named above are great choices. I'll throw in the Anabella hotel with them.

But when I'm really looking to save money, I actually stay at the Super 8 on Katella.
It's cheap, clean, has a heated pool (which many advertise, but don't deliver) and right next to the Gardenwalk mall.

You do need to be careful when staying at the really cheap spots within walking distance.
There are some real dumps (Alpine Hotel, Alamo Inn...to name a couple)

Although I'd brave any of them if I really needed my Disney fix.

I second Hojo Anaheim. Beds are very comfortable, plenty of inexpensive food choices nearby, and a short walk to the park. The room prices are reasonable and look on Mousesavers.com for a room rate break. There are videos describing the rooms on Youtube as well.

How about Best Western Inn Anaheim?

Looking into staying there a couple of nights in late October. Has anyone stayed there before? I heard they've done some renovations/upgrades to the property. Is this true? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort

Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Park Hotel?

It looks like it's a pretty easy walk to the parks but I would really appreciate any info anyone could give me.
Thanks!
