We won't be there until August so I'm hoping it will be open by then.
I've never been to El Pirata but have heard so much about it its on my list of things to do this trip.

Yay! Definently my favorite place at MK to eat. Guess they had to do something with all those people that worked at noodle terrace for the time being. :)

Yea, both the Noodle Station and El Pirata were closed last month when we were there. I was disappointed that El Pirata was, as I like it. My favorite counter service at MK though, is probably The Colonial Harbor House.

Does anyone know why El Pirata is closed so often?
I've often wondered this. I don't understand it, myself, because it seems like they're always trying to get more variety in the parks as far as food choices are concerned, but then they close the only place in the MK serving "Mexican" food? And every time I've been there while it's open, there's always lots of people there....weird

This is going to sound strange but i think the reason El Pirata is closed so often is because during the winter months nobody wants to eat a salad or much else thats on the menu they instead want something more hot and quicker to eat!
Why did the close the Noodle Stand so soon because the I got the impression it was doing well and lots of people were visiting it :veryconfu

I think its closed because it seems to be less visual, after all another high profile obviously closed building is not exactly conveying a good impression of the park. Also in quieter times It may be less popular so Disney figure there will be less complaints by closing it tahn the burger and dog joints.

Also is it not one of the smaller outlets?

I thought it was just because its outside.

With so many other quick service locations being indoors, why pick a place that is outside.

And that isn't just for El Pirata, it seems any quick service location that is outside tends to only be open seasonally.

You all make good points. It's just always nice to eat a salad or light tacos instead of burgers and hot dogs and stuff...so that's why I usually like it. Everytime I get the chance to eat there, I head to Pecos Bills to sit...for the air conditioning.

I have to agree. It doesn't matter what time of year it is I try to eat lighter foods at WDW (though I do have my hot dog & burger)... I love salads and soup at lunch.

I read in another thread that there is a shortage of CMs at this time and that could be part of the trouble.
I'm hoping they are both open in August.
