No more tarzan...

I remember finding a thread about the Tarzan show leaving Animal Kingdom. I dont' remember if there was a reason attached to it.

Anyway, here's what is probably a good reason why it's leaving. Tarzan is swinging to Broadway....yup...check out www.playbill.com

I've never seen the AK show, but I'm willing to bet that alot of the acreobatic aspects of it will be coming to NYC, so no need to have it in the park as well.

I for one am not very excited about this...I can't stand Phil Collins, the last thing that man deserved was an Oscar. Espicially that year.
If he gets a Tony as well...Lets jsut say if you live in the NY/NJ area and you hear a small explosion, it will be the sound of my head exploding from rage.

I don't think that would be the reason it would be leaving. The Lion King has been on Broadway and in the Park and so has Beauty and the Beast.

I'd really like to see what they do with it on Broadway though.

From what was said on this board the show will be heading to Hong Kong.

The one here on Broadway will be WAY different than the one in AK. For starters, it will be about 2.5 hours. If it follows suit (as I'm sure it will) it will have additional songs written for it. The theme park stage show and the one coming here to Broadway one will be two completely different shows, so there is no reason the AK one would have to leave just because one is coming to Broadway.

I'm excited to see it when it does get here, but am bummed that it appears it will debut before Little Mermaid and Hunchback, as I find them much more worthy of being on Broadway.

I do not see anyplace in Hong Kong it could be located, unless they built an additional structure, but even then, it would not be done for opening day.

Maybe it is just time for a change....WDW USED to change their stage shows on a regular basis.......they have not done that for a while.

We had a notice posted at work that Theatre in the Wild will be refurbished "similar to Festival of the Lion King." Most likely this means air conditioning.

It hinted at an early 2006 project, although no details were given on the new show's theme. :)

I walk away from teh boards for a few hours and I've got catchig up to do.

I wasn't saying taht the AK show would be on broadway, waht I was getting at was that It may have some of the same aspects. I've seen the casting call, it has alot of "flying" and acrobatics in it.

it's a different category then Beauty and the Beast. B&B is all costumed characters, the Tarzan show is pretty much face characters and performers.

I just think to my self, why go all the way to NYC if I can see an abbrivated version while I'm at Disney World. I hope that makes sense lol.

This might mean that I may actually like the show. When I went see it, I was so hot and uncomfotable that I could not enjoy the show.

Although I believe that it seems likely Tarzan is leaving, it probably has little to do with the fact it might be coming to Broadway. Consider the fact that Festival of the Lion King was created after The Lion King was already on Broadway and has been going strong at AK ever since.

I actually like Tarzan Rocks, but wouldn't mind a new show for that theater though. I am most excited about the possibility that the theater will be enclosed and air conditioned. Another venue to get in from the heat is very much welcome at AK, especially in the summer.

As long as they don't do the same changes they did to Hunchback and Diamond Horseshoe!

Phil Collins was on BBC Radio a month or so ago plugging a new album and when the Tarzan stage show was mentioned he said that it has been delayed a year. But I did not catch any projected dates.

ugh...out of all the shows Disney can turn into a stage musical, why Tarzan?

The songs are so bland and generic. Geez, even Mulan would have been a better choice.

I agree. Tarzan would have been a near perfect movie if it weren't fr the bad songs. (i don't, however, think Mulan should be considered for anything ever lol) I wish they'd just bring Hunchback to broadway already, and tone down the stupidity/sillyness of the gargoyles a bit.

Good call on Hunchback. As we watched that the first time, my wife and I commented on how it already had a "Broadway Feel" to it. I think it would make for a great live show. But then again, I really liked Urinetown.
