No expiration with dining plan?

My question is a bit confusing but I'll try my best.

In December we'll be going for 3 days and splitting up our stay over 2 WDW resorts. We are going to get 7 day hoppers though, as we'll be returning in July 07. When we return we'll spread out our stay over 2 or 3 WDW resorts. We will obviously be getting the no expiration option.

We wanted to get the Platinum package, or at *least* the dining package but I'm worried....will it transfer all the extras from the packages to July or will they be lost since our trip isn't a consecutive 7 days?

Thanks in advance!

First remember, your theme park ticket choice and options are completely separate from your package options.

Your MYW ticket expires 14 days from first use, unless the No Expiration Option is purchased. The clock does not start however, until you use the ticket for the first time. If you purchase the No Expiration Option for your ticket, it will protect any un-used days on the ticket from expiring.

When you purchase a package, be it MYW + Dine, MYW Premium, or MYW Platinum, the package entitlements (excluding your MYW theme park ticket) are available for use from the moment you check-in on your package arrival dates, and are good until they are depleted or until midnight on the date you are scheduled to check out, at which point any unused meals, vouchers, etc will expire. There is no way to extend or refund any unused portion of your package entitlements.

Also note, there is no way to bridge one "package" over two resort stays. You must book two separate resort stay packages, each containing one resort, a MYW Ticket per person, and your "package" entitlements for the length of your stay. All the entitlements on the first package will expire at midnight on your scheduled check-out date at your first resort, and all the entitlements on your second package will available for use upon check-in at your second resort. In essence, your package components will overlap on the date you transfer from one resort to the other.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

Wow, that sounds confusing!

So put simply, nothing else besides the park tickets truly don't inspire?

Do you suggest we then just buy a 3 day park hopper with dining for this trip and a 4 day park hopper with dining for the next trip separately?

If we do go with the dining, does that mean there's no way to go with 2 resorts then? I have such catching up to do with staying in WDW! :D

Thanks again.

Better yet, what if you're an annual passholder...what is the food rule? I am looking it up right now but to no avail. Thanks again in advance!

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you. Let me try to explain better...

The Magic Your Way Package Plus Dinning (free dine offer or otherwise) consist of:

A Stay of up to 10 nights at one Disney Resort
A Magic Your Way Ticket of your choice (any length 1 to 10 days, any options)
The Disney Dinning Plan for the length of your stay

All three items are sold together as a total package price. Everyone in the room (age 3+) must be on the same package and choose the same ticket options and length. The MYW ticket length does NOT need to match the length of stay at your resort.

The Magic Your Way Platinum Package consist of:

Per Package
Accommodations at a Disney Deluxe or DVC Resort
1 Planet Hollywood Comp Meal and Merchandise Keepsake (per room)
1 Platinum Plan Keepsake
Itinerary Planning
Per Person
A Magic Your Way Ticket with both the Park Hopper Option and the Water Park Fun and More Option equal to the Length of Stay plus 1 (ie 5 nights = 6 day ticket)
Unlimited use of Disney Children's Activities Centers (ages 4-12)
Official Walt Disney Travel Company luggage Tag
Unlimited Admission to Select Park Tours
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Snack per person, per night
Unlimited Admission to all Grand Gathering Experiences (if on Grand Gathering)
1 Admission to Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba
Unlimited use of select recreation
1 Private Golf Lesson
Unlimited In-room child care (ages 6 months - 12 years)
1 Preferred viewing at each of Fantasmic!, Wishes, & Illuminations
Nightly Turn-down Service
1 Select Spa Treatment (age 10+)

All items are sold together as a total package price. Everyone in the room (age 3+) must be on the same package and choose the same ticket options and length.

When you are on any Vacation Package, the package entitlements are linked to your resort stay dates, not to your ticket. Any options you choose for MYW ticket affects only your MYW Ticket. Your MWY ticket expires 14 days from first used unless the "No Expiration" Option is purchased. All other package entitlements and options are available immediately once you check in and all unused entitlements will expire at midnight on the date you are scheduled to check out.

Every package includes only one Resort stay. If you wish to stay at two or more Resorts, you must book two or more separate packages.

To answer your specific questions...

So put simply, nothing else besides the park tickets truly don't inspire?

Well we hope Disney will always inspire you everyday, everything on your vacation package except the MYW ticket expires at midnight on the date you are scheduled to check-out. ( Sorry, could not resist the pun.)

Do you suggest we then just buy a 3 day park hopper with dining for this trip and a 4 day park hopper with dining for the next trip separately?

As the dine plan can often save you more money each trip then buying a longer ticket for a future trip, yes I would recommend booking a package on each vacation with a MYW Ticket equal to the length of each trip.

If we do go with the dining, does that mean there's no way to go with 2 resorts then?

The Disney Dining Plan cannot be sold separately, or extended or reduced in length, it must match your resort stay dates. If you want to stay at two resorts, you must book two separate packages each including a separate dine plan and MYW Ticket per person.

Better yet, what if you're an annual passholder...what is the food rule? I am looking it up right now but to no avail. Thanks again in advance!

Two things to keep in mind. Remember, the Vacation Package includes a Resort Stay, a MYW Ticket, and the Dine Plan sold as a total package price so you will not be able to take advantage of any possible passholder room discount offers, and you must still purchase a MYW Ticket per person.

Your best bet for an Annual Passholder is to purchase a membership in the Disney Dinning Experience. This separate membership card offers you a 20% discount on food and drink (including alcohol) at most Table Service Restaurants throughout WDW, for the member and up to 9 Guests. This way you can book room-only reservations, (and take advantage of any passholder room discount offers that may be released) and still save on your sit down meals. The annual membership currently cost $60 for passholders. You can find more information and join by calling 407-566-5858 (option 2) Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to post or you could send me a PM anytime! I am always glad to help in any way I can!

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

DOH! Whoops.

JP, thank you so much!!!!!!!!! You are so helpful on these boards as I can already see, and I think I finally *got it* now. I might forgo the AP and just try to narrow each of my stays to one resort. I guess if the hardest part of my stay is figuring out which resort per stay, then I don't have it so bad!

I didn't know you could stay at a DVC resort if you buy the platinum package...I will definitely be doing that during an upcoming trip!
