We've spent several vacations in the last few years with our kids at the shore. I swear, we wound up spending more money THERE than we did at Disney keeping the kids busy and happy! Plus, we always seem to hit the weeks when a hurricane hits offshore, and the surf is off-limits to anyone with a brain.

So true about the prices here and spending money. We locales know that when Memorial Day comes, the prices everywhere on the island raise dramatically. We hate it, but not enough to move. We just drive over to the mainland for our needs.

Does it count as spending your summer at the shore if you are a year-round resident? ;)

I know--the traffic this weekend, with the weather finally clearing a bit and warming up and Father's Day and all, has just been horrendous! I drove to Large Hospital yesterday, and it was crazy! All the tourists must have remembered they had family in-patients and came to visit on their way to the beach!

We're in school until June 30, so it'll be a while until I can truly appreciate the insanity!

Where's Susan? She's a shore girl. Susan! We're talking about you!

Strangely, its quicker to go up 95 and take backroads through Jersey then it is to go east and catch the ferry in Lewis and go on Route 9. Well, most of the time anyways.

Lines at WDW aint squat when compared to Sat afternoon traffic on Jersey shore roads.

Dear god. Thats just horrible.

The last time my family made it to cape may, getting the chance to photograph some surfers made up for the traffic. Of course there was 1 good surfer for every 10 who thought they could surf, but that's another tale alltogether....

Oh, there you are, Susan! Good luck on finals! (And bless your heart for being done this week! I have two more weeks! NOooooo! And you guys thought the teachers LIKED going to school!)

Yes, several Ocean County members are lurking about. :) We know where you are (not specifically, of course....)

Two summers ago my brother was living in the basement and got sick and went out the Bilco doors and threw up Sawmill pizza in the bushes and the next day the dog found it and ate it....

(Sorry, it had a Seaside Park connection for those familiar....)

Yeah, good idea. The worst part was when I saw the dog the next day. I pointed out to my mom that there was something wrong with the dog--she was eating dirt. And then my mom told me she knew, and it wasn't dirt, and then she told me what the dog was eating.... And I wished she had let me think the dog lost her mind and starting eating dirt. :hurl:

Guys, I do live here on the island all year round, and iots been for my whole life, and my parents are both locals too. So I know all about the traffic, especially on July 4th. Not to mention that I work in a pretty popular fish market in the summers....

Ugh, you guys like Sawmill, home of the worst and greasiest pizza on the boardwlak?! Def check out Marucas Pizza, its been there longer then Sawmill, going on its 53 year, and has great pizza. Highly recommend!

From a Non-shoebee

Yes, many of ya from the Joisey Shore know what I talking about they clog up the roads in South Joisey and make driving terrible, from Memioral Day to Labor Day, the last time I was even down in Childwood was when I was 17 and I don't think I'll ever go there again, but The Point is nice, but why deal with the traffic in the summer when I can go down in the fall or the winter to AC and hopefully win some money, but forget the Joisey Shore I rather be in Orlando and sitting by the resort pool soaking up the sun then Childwood and the Great Noreaster or whatever it is called, I rather be entertained and watching Illuminatons at the Broadwalk, then being rip offed by Canadians and Irish guys working a game on the broadwalk.

Just a little tidbit from a non-shoebee from Philadelphia, yes I said Philadelphia.
